They were stuck in the Andes for two months but had cooking equipment with them?

Come to think of it- it was a luxury to have it cooked. They had some matches but they conserved them. They ate it raw most of the time. On a side note- this was only in the book and left out of the movie- but the entire time they were on that mountain eating people, they were less than 6 miles from a Hotel that was closed- but stocked with food and supplies. Kinda sad. But an amazing story nonetheless on the human will to live.
