You can have drama even without casting assholes. This is uncomfortable drama to watch. Even the first few seasons had plenty of good spice between
contestants.

I'm all for good assholes/villains...when there's also a contrast of some good likable/smart people to counter them. I know we're only two episodes
in and there's still so many people we haven't seen, but so far I'm just not getting the feeling that these people have what it takes to take out
Russell (at least anytime soon), and I really have no desire to watch a season where the assholes basically steamroll over everybody. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I really really hate to say it since I love Survivor so much...but deep down I kinda hope that the ratings for this season continue to drop, if only to send the message to TPTB that this is what happens when you try to shove twats like Russell and Ben down the viewers throats. |

I'd much rather have any drama come from game situations and not CBS "plants" like Evil Russell and BenHole, who are BOTH camera-whores.

FlashForward off to a good start, Survivor Samoa beaten in viewers for the first time in an eternity, but actually up versus last week despite the FlashForward premiere. Fringe was down, but the night is definitely still up for FOX, who took third for the first official Thursday of the season. Those predicting Grey's Anatomy would pull adults 18-49 ratings similar to House - you were right, and I bow down to you! We'll have to see the final tallies to know whether Grey's or House was top scripted 18-49 show for the week. Either way, Grey's put a whipping on CBS' CSI and The Mentalist in terms of adults 18-49. But next week, The Mentalist will go head-to-head with Private Practice and should fare better. More coming…. Full details:

Up almost half a million, as much as I hate it and seeing the airtime so skewed, obviously talks about this Russell are going to generate ratings: look at
Chima on BB11, her antics raised the ratings mid-season.

Well so much for the whole "it will drop below 10mil" stuff. Survivor increased on last week and held up well against FlashForward. FlashForward was
bound to win, with it being a new show and all the hype it had, but the difference wasn't that big. FlashForward was pretty good but there will definitely
be a drop off next week, which could put Survivor back out in front.

Yeah and I bet Fox is jealous after making such a big deal a few years ago about how they were actively trying to "take down" Survivor with their new
shows (which I can't even remember what those new shows even were anymore) and now ABC ended up beating it.

Interesting that it went up vs. lots of season/series premiere competition. The difference in viewers is so small I'd expect Survivor to come out on top
next week, but I'm not sure how the demo will fall. Russell would seem to be a boon for the casuals either way.

Survivor held up very well against Flash Forward. Actually I was expecting higher numbers for Flash Forward, considering it's a series premiere. I thought
it would pull in at least 15 million viewers.

ABC is pretty amazing at hyping their shows, which is what helps their premieres do so well. I'm glad Survivor did as well as it did against it and I'm
betting it'll be back on top (although probably not by much) next week.
