That last black dress with the little white shrug/##+$+$ for "film noir" was just a big ole meh. I don't get the lack of Gordana love. The flapper dress wasn't outstanding but it was certainly better constructed and looked richer than say Irina's Frederick's of Hollywood dress. Do not like the new woman judge. As others have said, it seems like she is trying to hard to make the bitchy comments.

It WAS made beautifully, but it was too damn literal. Ramen's dress was too shoddy and fugly to beat it, but her dress was so NOT original. Neither was Logan's outfit. I don't know why she is in the bottom 3 so consistently, but there it is. It was a beuatiful, non-inspired dress. She needs to "think outside of the box" (God, I hate that phrase.) I know you hate Christopher, but his dress was beautiful, well-made and a fabulous INTERPRETATION of the era. I HATED Peppermint Patty's dress: cheap looking, too many applique's and looked like every other "snow queen" dress in every movie, ever.Epperson had a great dress. Louise needs to go. Logan needs to step it up. We are stuck with Peppermint Patty for another 2 eppies.

He has been among my favorites on nearly every challenge, and if this challenge had been worded as a design "inspired by" a movie genre, his would have been among my favorites this week, too. I imagine by "literal", you mean accurate and realistic. That is a good part of what period costume design is about.

NO ONE else translated the "instructions" so literally. I liked the dress, but anyone (with takent) could have made it. She didn't exactly "design" anything, Anuthing NEW, that is. I didn't see any imagination, is all I am trying to say. Certainly I didn't think she should have been auf'd over Ramen, just for her sewing abilities, alone. "SAFE" is better than HIDEOUS, but she always plays it safe.

Posts: 833 (09/25/09 11:58 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Not really anything huge, but just in case anyone wants to remain completely in the dark; Spoiler [+] The previews of the next eppy of MOTR showed that 3 models were left and 2 designers had to pick between them. Doesn't that mean that next week isn't a double elimination? God help me, I actually think Nicolas puts out some pretty decent stuff, last week's design was his only real stinker. I would say he deserved to win this week though I wasn't really hoping for him to win. I hope Louise can pull it out next week, I am interested to see more of what she has got. She has been fairly low key so far. Who's the weakest link now? Gordana? =( She sooooo doesn't deserve it though I think the judges hit it on the head by saying she's an excellent dress-maker but has yet to wow with the design aspect. Christopher is such a cutie! All of y'all can keep Logan, Chris is the man for me this season. He has been to white bread in his confessionals thus far though. I hope he gives us more personality soon. Shirin is adorable too, Irina's got nothing on her. Oh and, lol at the male designer judge having a mad-on for Matar. I don't know if he's gay or what, but he did have a weird fascination with her; insisting that both the designer and model rocked Epperson's look.

I'm sorry, but it feels to me almost like she answered what she thought was a math question, but when she answered "four" to the question "what is two plus two", she was told that she failed because her answer was too literal and not "outside the box". Honestly, I like her, but all her designs have been boring. Yes, she knows how to put together a garment, but as of yet doesn't know how to create an original look. All her looks are well made blah. Her look this week was expertly made, but not a fit for a staircase scene in a movie. That dress is strictly background. That is why her look failed. If it had perhaps been done in a WOW color that wasn't from that era it might have made more of an impression. The thing is no costume director would put the star of their movie in that dress because it would not make them stand out. Gordanna needs to step it up if she wants the judges to see her as more than an impeccable seamstress.

I love the color choice - the rich coppery gold would stand out, depending on the art direction of the rest of the scene. Picture a restaurant scene mostly in black and white (men in tuxes, women in more traditional black or white flapper dresses). In walks the star in Gordana's dress. She'd stand out - just not in a whoreish way like if she were in red.

I think that it was one of my favorite creations of any PR season. Period piece but for present day, truly inspired. I don't mind that one recurring judge. But wtf with Nina and Michael not being permanent judges. It will be a different finale with them only 'kinda' knowing the designers. My love of Sci Fi movies forbade me to love Nicholas' 'ice queen' costume. Blech, there were so many more things he could have done in science fiction. I was impressed by Esperson for the first time, that was kinda hot and very unique.

Heidi Klum and filming in Los Angeles (so she can be near her ever-expanding brood), or Michael, Nina, and NYC? That's a no-brainer for me - I would choose the show with Heidi, even though the show makes much more sense in NY than LA and even though NGFDoMCM and Michael Kors are missing all the time. I don't even like Nina Garcia! or Michael Kors that much, it's just that without them there is no regular judge besides Heidi, and their replacements are for the most part worse than them (minus that divine really bitchy horsey faced woman). If they're going to stay in LA next season, I think they just need to ditch Garcia/Kors for two new regular judges and have Nina and Michael make guest appearances when possible.
