For endless seasons they've been casting 95% 2D characters that when one really 3D character shows up, love him or hate him, he's great for the show.
Do I think he'll win? Most likely not. But in his own words, he doesn't need the money. He's just loving playing the game. And more power to him.
This is the first time we ever had someone who completely didn't need the money, so he's playing the game in a fashion that no one else would ever try. It's like being the underdog football team and trying the statue of liberty play or a fake field goal 'cause you have nothing to lose. It's fun as anything to watch.
He's also already eliminated two of maybe five of the people I would have put money down as likely winners of the season, and it seems he's about to duel with the guy (Jaison) I very much thought had the best odds to win this game. If Russell somehow knocks off Jaison and makes this a game filled with a bunch of people who would have otherwise not had a shot unless Russell was on the season -- I think great TV. And I'd love to see how they edit the season if all the big guns get knocked out early.
Whoever chose Russell to be on the show: Thank you! Keep the interesting characters coming -- even if I don't relate to them.
And PLEASE don't mess up S20 by stacking the deck for 2D characters. Keep a great thing going!
