It was really good and I love everyone on the cast-Joseph Fiennes and John Cho were really good. I HATE that people keep comparing this to "Lost" and every other show that has a sci-fi element to it. "Invasion," "The Nine," "Heroes," etic were also compared to "Lost" when they first came out and it's annoying as shit. And it's not to take away from "Lost," because it's my favorite show ever and I think it took TV to a whole new level, but I hate the comparisons. I'll be watching this instead of Survivor, too. Lost was thrown in our faces in this episode, like it or not. ("Penny", "Charlie", LA, Oceanic, lead guy seeing Vincent/a kangaroo [Australia?], suicidal doctor, numbers being significant, same type of beginning and FLASH FORWARD itself) I think it was done this way on purpose to hook the Lost-type viewers, but I doubt that will continue. I don't think FF has any tie-in whatsoever with Lost, but the vibes were there at least this one episode. jmo. I'm a diehard Lost junkie so it's easy for me to think Lost with anything I see or watch.. hell, I even notice if there is a room 23 on Dexter! But yeah, I never understood those crazy comparisons to Heroes, The Nine, or Invasion and it irritated me to no ends to keep reading about them. SI - Thanks for reminding me about the book. I will be reading that. I'm all about the spoiling! SLDog - Thanks for the details. I think we should move that list of easter eggs forward each week and add to it. Pappy - I knew Olivia was "Penny". Her accent in FF was annoying me some, especially that one time when she yelled "Bryce!!" or something like that. It was grating. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Interesting that the swan shown is a black swan. The only reason I know about this was there was some speculation that the Swan station on LOST was called the Swan because it was initially designed to study/predict/manipulate Black Swan events and that Juliet surviving and detonating the bomb was in itself a black swan event. When Juliet detonates the bomb, the usual LOST logo is shown inverse, with the lettering being black instead of white. If you inverse the Swan logo, the swan becomes black. Additonally, there was a character going by the name "Black Swan" in the Dharma Initiative Recruiting Project ARG last year. It didn't really go anywhere and the speculation mostly died out, but it's interesting the see references to it in this show. My apologies to the person who didn't want to hear the LOST references.

Not every second has to be another plot point. And we'll need to care about these characters eventually. Mark Benford and Demetri Noh are the least convincing FBI field agents in the history of FBI field agents. And, concerning their swerve into oncoming traffic, that's just regular cop procedure. It's not like we have helicopters or license plates. And spoiler alert! Demetri Noh, the asian dude, is going to be the late-season shocking reveal as "the bad guy." Why? -he's new to the force -he's overzealous in shutting this supposed terrorist bitch up -suggests the whole internet idea, so he can 'delete' the right people -he's pouring over Mark Benford's memory board -"Who Else Knows?" on the board, looks at "friendship" bracelet -he's the useless nice-guy sidekick in a mile-a-minute plot -he completely ditches Mark after the car crash, maybe to kill the black SUV driver, either way, he doesn't really give a shit about Mark or even bother to give an explanation -he withholds his flash forward and gives instead this woe-is-me story -his name is Demetri! Oh well, I proved my point.

After the current set of Flashcards has played out, they start showing "sneak previews" of upcoming episodes. In an upcoming ep: Spoiler [+] The female FBI agent explains that extrapolating stadium wall measurements, Walking Dude was 5'8, 150, more likely a man than a woman.

Oh great stuff, Kenneth! I noticed the bird, too, but forgot to mention it. Too much to soak in and I didn't get to watch it twice. I remember a baseball game mentioned but don't remember hearing Red Sox. One or two similarities could be passed off as coincidence - and could happen on any show really, but this stuff is too much to overlook. Now as I said before, the Lost connections could end with this one episode. There may not be anymore references and I'm certainly not reaching for any, but I'm not ignoring what really stands out either. I also apologize to those who don't like the comparisons. Sorry... Demetri Noh, the asian dude, is going to be the late-season shocking reveal as "the bad guy." US - I was suspicious of him until he said he had no vision. Then I thought ok that's why he's giving me bad vibes - he's freaked out because he thinks he won't be alive in 6 months. But damn good points. He was lying about what he saw or what he knows.. hmm.

WHY was the little girl sleeping at 11:00 am (Pacific)? She had been up earlier for breakfast with Daddy. Why would she go back to bed? And if the blackout happened at 11:00 am, why did the woman FBI agent tell Dimitri that she had been poring over videotapes for the last five hours (so no later than 4:00 pm) but he told his fiance on the phone that he had to work "late." Stuff like this bugs the shit outta me. So sloppy.

I liked it, but don't yet love it. Love the premise, but the execution seemed somewhat lacking. Still looking forward to watching it play out. I had called my mom on Thurs. to remind her that this was starting, and to program it into her DVR. She called me around 9:00 last night and said she was halfway through it, and, while it was an intense episode, she wanted to know where all of the "regular" characters were. Turns out she thought she was watching the season premiere of Flashpoint.

Not sure I understand what you're saying ... she wouldn't have started looking at video right when the blackout happened. How long did it take to gather and then to decide to launch the investigation? How long does it take to gather the video? I'm not sure the problem here?

The boy on the gurney that already knew Olivia's name as he's being wheeled into the hospital after the flash: my intial reactions was oh, it's 'obvious' that the kid is still under the care of Olivia at the time of the flash, that's why he knows her name. Now that we know who the boy's father is, I'm not so sure. And the little girl, Charlie I think is her name, saying "there are no more good days" after getting back from her flash - wtf? I want to see what she saw in her 2 minutes and 17 seconds.

And even though some of the acting was embarrassingly wooden and I thought that most people seemed to "move on" a little too quickly after such a disaster, the videotape of the one guy being awake at the stadium was one hell of a compelling scene, so I'm in.

Like at the end...they are at home at the end of the day,wtf? I thought the roads were littered with vehicles, bodies, etc...there appreared at one point to be massive looting going on, but these 2 made it home from seperate jobs and had dinner like everything was ok? And I just assumed the kangaroo was from the zoo, nothing more. Then again, after lost I realize what a collasal waste of time it is to watch a show for anything other than what is presented right there in the alloted time. So the kangaroo didn't seem all that weird, just a stray zoo animal, maybe his keeper had the cage open at the wrong time.
