Actually, if you think about it, Jeff shouldn't say anything even when Galu goes to TC.

After all, he made a big elaborate show of saying that the note to Yasmin was private. Since he didn't tell the rest of Galu that the note was about a HII (the way he normally says it when he has sent people off to Exile Island in the past), then the existence of the HII is technically still a secret, and JP has no business asking if anyone has it at any TC, whether at Foa Foa or at Galu.

It's more complicated than that. The way the editing worked out, Russell's underwear was still spotless and his hair/bear still short when he first tells the tribe he's looking for the idol and sticks his head in the tree:



So that probably happened back in episode 1. However, the editors would also have us believe he also found and removed the idol during that same sequence. I call bullshit (or reenactment) on that.

As you can see in these two posts, Russell had probably been looking for the idol for a while before he told Jaison he found it. When exactly did he first spot it, and when exactly did he remove it from its hiding place (the two events could have happened at separate times)? That's still unclear, no matter what the editors want us to believe.

True, but then neither is Ashley. So that doesn't necessarily mean much. Also, as can be seen from one of the screens in the other thread, when he walks away from the tree with other tribe mates in the same shot, he's most definitely not hiding anything extra in his shorts. So he actually removed the idol from its hiding place at some other point.

Not necessarily. He might have just noticed that Yasmin was sniffing around trees. Remember Guatemala and Hogeboom.

He and Jason are about as grimey as the camp sequence with Yasmin, which might give an aproximate time.

I think when he tells Jaison he looks significantly grimier, and more to the point, hairier than he looks during the camp sequence.

No, that wasn't exactly your point. You wrote, "Especially when you see the clue." There's no evidence Russell actually saw the clue. We can surmise that he might not have found the idol before Yasmin visited the camp, as the editing would have us believe. That's about it.
