My cat hopped up onto the sofa with me and was walking around on the blanket over my legs like she was looking for a good place to lay down. Next thing I know she is peeing on the blanket and making a weird meowing sound like she was unhappy. I took her to the vet the next morning and found out she had a bladder infection. Cats that suddenly pee someplace in the house that will get your attention are generally trying to get your attention. So we got the pills to fix her bladder infection. During the couple few days it took for the drugs to make her feel better she peeded on a clean basket of clothes and in a decorative bowl on my kithen counter. She is older and older cats can get bladder infections. We have had no further problems. My vet said some cats can get picky about their litter boxes when previously they were fine. Clean out the litter box everyday, don't switch around litter brands, and if your cat still pees outside the box get her/him a check up.
