I watched a couple of seasons early on, but just couldn't stomach Iced T or whatever his name is. He talks like he has a dick in his mouth.

Did Liv basically said she should've been aborted?
And does BD Wong ever appear on this show?? He's such a good sport for staying with them all these years despite the fact that he's on screen 3 minutes total every season. Maybe he just stays because of his ties to Chris Meloni from Oz. |

This last show "Hammered" Season 11, Episode 4 was all wrong. A mistrial does not mean he cannot be tried again. Even if it did the family can sue in
a civil case and anything he told Benson does not grant him immunity. They commented that the SVU was too much for Lahti. A DA does not get assigned one squad
... she wasn't working just for them. I think the show is getting lazy in their research. I am glad someone spoke up about alcoholism and the disease
concept. I never understood it being a disease and I never will.

I was really disappointed with this week's episode. Not up to the usual L&O standards. So much was completely implausible.

Christopher Meloni = Chris Keller on "OZ" & Elliot Stabler on "Law and Order: SVU."
Dean Winters = Ryan O'Reilly on "OZ" & Detective Brian Cassidy on "Law and Order: SVU." B.D. Wong = Father Ray Mukada on "OZ" & Dr. George Huang on "Law and Order: SVU." J.K. Simmons = Vern Schillinger on "OZ" & Dr. Emil Skoda on "Law and Order SVU." Lance Reddick = Desmond Mobay on "OZ" & Dr. Taylor on "Law and Order SVU." That is just the semi regulars and regulars. Guest appearances include a large number of the cast of OZ. Dexter and OZ is as bad. |

One of the comments on a site about these crossovers brought up Dick Wolf naming Det Fontana (played by Dennis Farina) after his buddy Tom Fontana (creator of
OZ)

I thought the drunken DA said the judge dismissed the charges 'with prejudice', meaning that double jeopardy is attached. I have zero law knowledge, so have no idea if that is accurate, but I'm pretty sure that's how they depicted it. Good catch! You are correct - with "prejudice" he cannot be tried again. So, that verdict makes zero sense - if it was a mistrial because the DA was a drunken idiot why should he walk?

You didn't quote my entire comment. The comment was she was stressed because the SVU cases were too much for her to take. |

I am glad someone spoke up about alcoholism and the disease concept. I never understood it being a disease and I never will. I'm a borderline alcoolic and even I want to punch people in the face when they say that. Yes, there are neurologic/physical components that make alcool addictive. But the fact remains that you have complete free will to drink/not drink/drink responsably/drink yourself blind etc. When you get AIDS you can't wake up one day and decide to cure yourself. THAT's a disease. If I decided to quit drinking for good today, I could. Would it be hard? You fucking better believe it would be, but I still could if I really wanted to. People who consider alcoolism a disease talk as if they are helpless victims, which is obviously a load of crap to not take resposabilities for their actions. |

The Constitution does not require exclusion of such evidence--it is a judicially created concept to prevent police from violating the Fourth Amendment by removing their incentive to do so. For example, while a cop may find evidence of a crime by breaking into a house while the occupants are gone, she will be far less likely to do so if s/he knows any evidence discovered that way cannot be used against the suspect. Same for prosecutorial misconduct--if a prosecutor behaves in a reprehensible fashion, dismissing with prejudice removes incentives for prosecutors to act like that in the future. To WylDawg: Isn't part of the "alcoholism is a disease" concept a way to get treatment for it covered by health insurance? |

Medically speaking, you are wrong in your belief that alcoholism is not a disease, Wyl.
AIDS is caused by a virus, it is not a disease. dis⋅ease[di-zeez] Show IPA noun, verb, -eased, -eas⋅ing.

I think alcohol(ism) has too many variables, and science has too many gaps to know the facts, right now. Like certain races diminished tolerance levels
compared with others with long term historical and cultural adaptations, also biochemistry, etcetera.
I have the highest tolerence I know of for whiskeys and beer, yet I get almost blinding migraines from 1 glass of wine. Remember the infamous WKRP episode where Johnny Fever had better sobriety test reactions, the more he drank. I did that once and pissed off my Sgt. when I did better on the field test with 7 drinks, than he did sober. |
