I would think that you would want something short, preferably with straps, so that you don't run the risk of your funbags making an appearance mid-performance. So, following that theory, I would say Irina's dress suited the challenge best out of a bunch of crappy designs.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that someone who is going to be running around on stage and dancing and whatever decided to choose a long gown as the winning design? Is there something I'm not getting?

Yes, what you are not getting is that in a typical Christina Aguilera concert she changes costumes several times. That's why some of the designers felt there needed to be a reveal, as that's a typical "trick" that performers like her do. She has a few ballads that she may perform wearing a gown like that, and like they mentioned on the show she has been known to drape herself over the top of a piano to sing another. Not only that but I was watching the most recent VH1 Divas show and several of them came out and performed their one song in a long, sequined gown. Also, on awards shows wearing a gown to perform is common.



About Christina's has-been status...the woman has won 5 Grammies from 18 nominations since her debut album was released in 1999 and has sold 43 million CDs. That puts her amongst the best of the last decade. While her first CD was pure pop, she re-recorded the entire thing in Spanish, then she released Stripped and went through her "Dirrrty" phase, then her double-CD was "Back to Basics" and her image changed again to a more mature Christina with a sound that paid homage to the sounds of her heroes. I'm not her biggest fan or anything, but I'm definitely a fan. She's proven time and time again that she's got some pipes and I doubt she's going away anytime soon. No single artist appeals to everyone, but if she's not on your radar it doesn't mean she's a has-been.

No doubt she's had a nice career, but I doubt most people know she released an album in '08. Sure, Candyman and that other song were popular, but that was what 3-4 years ago? My point is, there are other people who are more current TODAY that would make for a better episode. For example, Brooke Shields and Rebecca Romjin were at least promoting some current shit they are on. I just think someone like Gaga, Fergie, Ciara or even one of those Disney idiots would be more relevant.

THAT is my biggest problem with her voice. I think she has a good voice, it's the manner/style of singing that irritates the shit out of me. Not every note is a riff.

Yep - and soooo many contestants copy that shit on American Idol. I call it the 'Sista Diva Singing National Anthem Syndrome'

They could have done the show with Fergie, or Pink would have been good.
