This is really just stupid politics by the President. George Bush avoided MSNBC but he never was silly enough to call them out in the media and elevate their
status the way Obama is doing with Fox.

from USA today in 2003:
and paranoia over the Bush admin from the Toronto Globe & Mail in 2001
Both sides have been attacked for censoring or trying to censor the press and likely both Bush and Obama are guilty of trying to muzzle the press |

The Bush White House was putting pressure on the press not to disclose vital and classified military operations, and to not put the military in jeopardy. Obama's White House is putting pressure and/or distancing the press to protect his ass. BIG DIFFERENCE. |

Financially things couldn't get better for Obama's critics, or worse for his fans in the Press. Forget about Rush Limbaugh, who has been on top for almost 25 years now, no-talents like Glenn Beck are more influential than the network news anchors. No liberal news outlet is flourishing, partly because there are so many, and partly because almost all of them have abandonded even the pretense that they are neutral observers of the news. But it's not good for anyone that the news media is so completely biased. While I believe there is a place for MSNBC, Fox, and all of the others, who can you completely trust to keep their eyes on our government? |

if a real conservative news channel is denied access on request, i'd say something. But at this point Fox doesn't qualify as a real channel - its mostly opinion pieces by far right ideologues. Orly? Fox has Sheppard Smith, who plays it straight. They also have programming by Greta Van Sustern who never voices a political opinion in her interviews and Brett Bair, who hosts a roundtable from both sides of the spectrum. They also have Hannity and Beck and O'Reilly who (pay attention, now) don't do the news. Just like MSNBC has Matthews, Olbermann, the gay chick, and the new guy, Ed something, who replaced their loan conservative host, Tucker Carlson. Do you suggest that if a republican wins next time, they should blackball all the other channels and only talk to Fox? Cause that would be retarded, just like this current witchhunt is. Here's what irks Obama. There is ONE media oufit not in the fold. It's harshing his mellow. |

Oh, and not only are they denying access to Fox, but not being content to stop there, they've had the long knives out for two consecutive weeks now,
boldfaced asking that the OTHER networks also treat them with the same contempt.
This kind of hutzpah, you just can't make up. But yeah, Bush being overheard calling that one guy from the Times an asshole is exactly the same thing. Meanwhile he sat down for an interview with NBC, who pretty much trashed him nonstop. |

Another way to look at it - has there ever been a president who has been more popular with the press? Be honest. When you have to reach as deep as Jake Tapper
in order to name a member of the press outside of Fox who has asked any hard questions of the administration then you really see how much they love Obama, yet
he has the balls to whine about the few people who even question him? He really would roll up in a ball and suck his thumb if he met the opposition that other
presidents have met.

Seriously, the administration is pissed off because Fox fact checked one of their spokespeople. Just try to imagine the howls and cries if Bush had told his spokespeople to boycott any of the other news organizations for any reason. But for the libs, because it's Fox, they simply can't see it. |

Yes, fact checking is good, even the Obama administration paranoids believe that. Didn't they fact check that skit on SNL that was semi-critical of him?

Let's take the cost of the Cap & Trade bill on individual families as an example. The only reason we know that the administration knew the cost would
be over $1700 per family per year and was hiding it is because the Competitive Enterprise Institute filed a Freedom of Information request. There was a time
when news organizations would have researched that kind of thing themselves rather than waiting for someone else to find it and embarrass them into publishing
it.
So, who knows how much else the administration is hiding from us that the "legitimate news organizations" are showing no desire to discover lest it annoy the powers that be. |

Harry, you're a racist, that's all there is to it. If you don't drink the koolaide, then you must be racist.
Jimmy Carter said so, so it must be true. |
