Oh, I don't much like him, either (actually, I don't much like ANY of them), but that has nothing to do with whether he deserves to win.

Even when Ash complimented him a few weeks back, as I noticed rewatching that episode, he looked like he wanted to punch him. In my eyes his kitchen etiquette is poor. I know many in the restaurant industry disagree and think you have to be so aggressive and hands-on. To ME, it means he does not deserve a win. A Top Chef, to me, needs to play well with others, at least to a degree. |

I'm no Robin lover either, but I though Michael was a dick, and while she maybe shouldn't have told him to fuck off, she was certainly within her
rights to say back off. Oh, that's right, she did - and he didn't. You could tell he thought of it as his dessert after he told her how to do it; you
could also tell he wasn't comfortable giving her any autonomy whatsoever, but he can't control EVERYTHING in the kitchen. At some point you have to let
your fellow contestants do their thing, too, and sink or swim because of it. He did not tell her to change how she was plating the dessert
"respectfully," at least from where I'm sitting. He was as crass and impatient as he has been with his brother (whom he's told to fuck off),
so he shouldn't have been too surprised when she responded like his brother would right back. You get what you give when you're all equals on a show -
he wasn't her boss. If he was, that certainly wasn't made clear on the show, and even if he did have the title of Executive CHef, he still doesn't
have the right, imo, to treat people like shit.
Jeez, can't believe I'm defending Robin. mutter, mutter... All this brother talk is pointless anyway, because Kevin's going to win. :) |

I'll be happy as long as neither of the whiny douchy brothers win this. Stop cooking and seek professional help already, assholes.

cginspace wrote: LOL! That's because Ash's "compliment" was fully intended to put all the blame for the failed dish on Michael! Once again, I think the problem had a lot to do with an unrealistic and confusing structure. In real life, Michael could hire sous chefs who acknowledge and respect his authority in the kitchen. If that is who he is working with, I don't think he would have any trouble playing well with others. Robin obviously didn't think that Michael was her boss and he obviously DID think so. I don't know who was right, but it was that confusion that muddied the water and is causing this dissent among viewers. If Michael was her boss, then he has every right to tell her how to present her dish and she is wrong. If he wasn't her boss, then he had no business bossing her around and HE is wrong. |

You certainly do seem to know what is inside people's heads, Drew. And either way he was wrong. He had a right to tell how to present the dish, but he did
not just tell her how to present a dish. Robin should not have cursed at him. So she was in the wrong, too. She at least admitted she had erred. He didn't.
Unless giving the moeny was a half-ass way of making himself feel better about being an ass. It probably was.

Hmmm. They trash the dish, Ash says "The dish was all Michael". I don't think it's that much of a leap...

Yeah. Some flattery to cushion the blow of being thrown under the bus. Ash is a smooth, charming guy. He probably even meant the praise (it's true, after
all -- Michael has a freaking Michelin star!). I just think it's perfectly understandable why, in that scenario, Michael didn't necessarily appreciate
the praise in quite the same way as he would have if it came at a time where it wasn't likely to get him sent home...

why are ppl pissed that robin cussed at Michael, but the brothers V can cuss at each other ("Don't be a dick!") and that's okay in the kitchen? |

Again, Drew, I think you think you know too much of what these people are thinking.

If her dish was fucked up because of Michael, then the judges would have said she needed to assert herself and maintain her dish. If it failed without his tinkering at least she could stand behind it instead of him screwing her over. I would have done exactly what Robin did, without the swearing of course. He wasn't just managing the portions - he was trying to plate them. And for those who said his suggestions made it better -- let's not forget she won the quickfire with it, so it was already a sure bet to begin with. She executed it well, too. Note that Bryan's quickfire revisit wasn't as successful as hers (though good). Bottom line is Michael was treating her like a sous chef and she was obviously not having any of it. There's a certain thing about playing second fiddle to a leader, but props to Robin for not being Michael's obsequious awe-struck brown-nosing little bitch like Ash was. LOL, but she's sooooooooo gone next week with her confident preview. I just hope that doesn't mean Mike I. actually wins an EC.

Oh, I totally forgot the most ridiculous part of that whole little scenario...there's no cussing in the kitchen? That was hilarious. Next Top Chef will be
telling us that chefs don't drink or smoke, either! Please.

While it wasn't made explicit this time, it is not so far out there for Michael to assume that since he pulled the knife and chose the team, that he was the executive chef and that robin was his sous chef for this challenge... |

This season is a bore for me. No Carla, no Blaise, no Hung, or lesbian loving Stephan.. hell I am even longing for a Fabio. There are no great villains and no
great heroes. Just a bunch of boring shmucks who are annoying at the very best (see Michael I).
Will I watch the rest of the season. Ya, but I am not expecting fireworks or interesting character developments along the way. I think this was set up for a brother or Ripert's protege to win, and I expect those 3 in the finale. |
