It's boring because no one is doing it for Zoi.

I thought that bossy controlling freak was an asshole, and I would have sworn at him a lot more than Robin did. Back the fuck off dickwad, you don't touch
the dish I am sending out in this competition. It's my ass on the line here, and who the hell do you think you are?
I don't like Robin, but I really can't stand that superior attitude of his, and it's a fucking competition, since when do you let a competitor mess with your dish? I'd tell him to shove it up his ass, and no matter what he thinks of my skills, I am still here--just like him, so shut the fuck up and take care of your own dish. As far as the cancer stuff? Who cares? It is part of her, and I don't see her mentioning it "too much" or using it, she's just not hiding it, and the show is using it as a bit of a hook. Too me, saying that experience with cancer made her look for healthier food is not one bit different than saying being in the army made you appreciate potatoes. Admitting you changed because of cancer isn't a plea for sympathy, it's simply part of who you are, and a refusal to "hide" something life changing. I think I only like the bearded guy and Jen. |

And if Robin's dish wasn't executed well enough, it could mean the difference between the team winning or losing, and that could lead to any one of them (not just Robin, but Michael, Bryan or Eli) going home. |

She lived or died on her own dish, group comp or not.
If they did "fail" and she was the worst, she would have gone home. She had the right (actually the obligation) to plate that sucker any way she thought would show her skills best. How many times have we seen contestants let others bully them into cooking or sending it out someone else's way? She listened when she thought his advice helpful, she didn't when she disagreed, AS SHE SHOULD HAVE. The judges liked the dish and I heard no criticism about her plating. No one elected that bozo boss, and unless they had, he should have backed off the first few times she asked him too.

If Robin's dish had sucked, as it seems some of her other dishes have, his condescension would have seemed more justified.

Drew B wrote:Not true. Re-watch the episode. At Judges Table, after the contestants had gone back to the stew room, Tom said that "Ash all but invited us to send him home if theirs is the worst dish." Tom certainly did NOT hear it as an attempt to lay the blame on Michael. |

That is no guarantee at all that you have relevant experience, because when you own the restaurant, you can run the kitchen any way you want - including badly. Tons of crappy cheftestants have owned restaurants. But the more important question is: in whose kitchens have you worked? According to Robin's bio she is self-taught (no culinary school) and worked in the catering dept. at the Univ. of Michigan. No other restaurant experience is listed. Jen works for Eric Ripert. The Vs worked for Charlie Palmer. Kevin worked at a Ritz-Carlton (I don't know who was exec at the time, but R-C hotels have a pretty distinguished record of hiring good chefs for their restaurants) before working for Michael Tuohy at Woodfire Grill, where Kevin's now exec chef and co-owner. IOW, these people have worked in established kitchens. Robin worked for a university caterer before running Crave, which is closed. |

I don't understand why anyone would back up Robin as a "chef". The crisp she made was the same dish she won prior. So in the whole season thus
far she made a crisp in two different visual ways and she deserves to be there? As much as i love the idea of a shitty cook beating out really talented
douchebags, i cant stand her doing nothing in the competition or personality wise for this show.

I don't think too many people are backing her up as a chef. They are merely stating that Michael V was acting like a douche which he was.

And the crappy chefs know who they are. You can tell by the way they react to winning. The crappy ones make comments like "winning shows that I belong
here." They want to justify just being in the same kitchen with the others. The good chefs just say that the dish came together the way they envisioned
it. Robin knows she sucks. So did Laurine, and Ash.

LOLABINGO wrote: Michael could have allowed - nay ENCOURAGED - her to send out a sub-par dish, acting on the assumption that if her dish sucked, she'd go home. He didn't do that, though. He cared about the team and that their restaurant send out the best food possible. Whether or not you accept his behavior, I see no evidence that his intentions were anything other than good. In point of fact, though, her having the worst dish would not have necessarily guaranteed that she would be the one to go home. Also, she may not have had the worst dish, but simply a dish that was worse than it could have been, thus landing the team in the bottom and putting one of them at risk. Remember, they didn't know at the time how much the other team was going to crash and burn. Any little detail could have meant the difference between winning and losing... |

Whoever posted that Robin and Mike Isabella are on the same level, talent-wise, is an idiot. Don't ever post here again.

However, all evidence supports the idea that Bryan (and Michael and Kevin and Jen and Mike and even Eli) is a better chef. |

Now I am enjoying this season, and think a MikeV. Bryan, Jen final 3 is certain - but I just could not resist for old times sake:
[Photo: Eat To Blog] Well lo and behold, just who was spotted at Penn Station (NYC) hawking frozen pizzas and giving out free totes? Sweet talker aka Mr. Sugar Lips
Fabio Viviani. Shouldn't he be running his very new eatery Firenze
Osteria? Apparently not. Fabio was recently spied handing out Dr.Oetker pizzas. And what exactly is a Dr.Oetker frozen pizza? Per the website:
"Italy's top-selling frozen pizza is finally being introduced to pizza lovers in the United States. Dr. Oetker is the NO.1 in Italy and is
coming with the best seller Ristorante to the US. Dr. Oetker (urt-ker) Ristorante pizza has quickly become a favorite brand of thin-crust pizza among
consumers throughout Europe and Canada. And now the United States can enjoy the taste and the atmosphere of an Italian Restaurant for a fraction of the price
while dining at home." Aha, Italy's top selling frozen pizza plus Italy's number one Top Chef export...

I think it would be a travesty if the 4 of them aren't F4, and it could be almost as interesting if the F3 was Kevin, Jen, and a Volt ... and imagine if by knife pull, the eliminated Volt was assigned to be a sous chef against his brother (or with him, for that matter) in the finale. This past week really threw me off for predicting the winner, however. Seafood is Jen's thing. Kevin is a meat guy. How could they both screw up their specialty? And this week, the Portman conditions will probably mess them up further. However, I think that Jen not liking her dish in the preview was probably misdirection, just because the Bravo previews seem to be so reliably about misdirection that they are no longer faking people out. But since Jen is a sauce specialist (sauces have won her challenges, and her mentor Eric Ripert's cuisine is all about the sauce) I think she has an advantage in a vegan type of challenge. I think she'll be able to take something bland - tofu or a mild vegetable - and surround it with an amazing sauce. |
