29. Dave Cruser

Crazy Dave is probably the only one on this list that I didn't like during my first viewing, but I still managed to appreciate his entertainment value. On rewatch, though, I understood where all the love came from because he was pure awesome. He is a major reason why Zhan Hu is one of my favorite tribes because of all the pointless drama he started, primarily over the fire pit. You see, it wasn't good enough for Dave to get a small fire going and refresh the tribe by eating before working on a long term project. No, he didn't want anyone to eat or drink until his fire pit was completed. Obviously, this ticked off the other members of his tribe, and Ashley and Sherea ended up getting into some hysterical confrontations with him. I took the girls' sides in most of the arguments because he was being ridiculous, but his ridiculousness is what made him awesome. His argument with Sherea when she took his shells that he was saving to take home (like he couldn't find any more shells?) was one of the most pointless fights we've ever seen on the show.

I think he was right about at least exercising some energy into camp life instead of being lazy and sleeping all day to "prep for challenges", but he went way overboard at times. Other times he went overboard, pulling a Hatch at the wrestling challenge. Random as hell, but at least it was kind of funny. I liked how he was at Fei Long for only a day, yet he managed to scare the shit out of the entire tribe for being off his rocker. Still, he sucked at the game. He, along with PG, was a moron for volunteering to be a leader. (As we all know, clusterfucks without one are much more fun to watch.) Besides, acting in charge is an easy way to get voted out. No one likes to be ordered around. Then, he gave the HII clue to Todd because Todd seemed trustworthy? Even Jean fucking Robert managed to know that Todd was untrustworthy.

Also, there was one more thing about Dave I really liked. How he stuck with Chicken at the first tribal council even when it was clear he was leaving. Actually, maybe it wasn't that clear since it was a 5-2-1 vote, but I still liked how he kept his word to an outsider, just because they were both older members of the tribe. Man, China had a great cast of pre jury characters. Only Aaron was a dud. Unfortunately, there isn't room for all of them to be on this list.

28. Danny "GC" Brown

First night of Gabon (first two episodes), GC managed to be the only member of ClusterFang that I disliked. He won immunity at the race up the hill, but he basically gave up during the first immunity challenge. At tribal council, he was forced into the role as leader by Jeff being a prick, but he accepted it. He got back to camp that night and managed to make fire before doing a great dance. He, then, preached that he didn't want to be leader and jumped out of the position while getting into arguments with various members of the tribe, primarily Randy. GC was portrayed as an absolute pussy, and I agreed with the editing. The third episode comes, and I don't know what happened, but I started to feel sorry for him. GC was such a wreck, but I was endeared. Maybe it was because I liked Fang so much. Or maybe GC became more appealing since he was hanging out with Ken. I'm not sure, but I realized the first episode stunt of retiring from his leadership position was the start of an epic storyline.

Randy absolutely hated his guts, talking about how GC was a cancer to the tribe, (something that Coach later used in an attempt to be original ), and how he would argue about the sky being blue. While Randy preached his GC hatred to Susie, Dan, and Matty as they created an alliance, GC knew they were talking about them. He knew they were up to something, yet he just stayed back and chilled with his friends. He didn't care that much about what they did.

After the tribal swap, GC pissed me off again by targeting Kelly because she was weaker at challenges than Jacquie. Coming from a guy who had been shown multiple times to give up while behind, that's not something you should be mentioning unless you want to leave. Well, he did want to leave. He had enough, and he asked to leave the very next episode. After Crystal told him to eat his rice, he was sick of people. He didn't like being bossed around, and he decided to take the boat out and go for a little spin. As we know from the reunion, he was just looking for a Popeyes, but the rest of the tribe had no idea. They were actually worried about him. I think that said a lot. GC was done with the game, and his self esteem was absolutely shot. Still, everyone else on the tribe was worried about him, and they wanted to make sure he was ok. Yes, he was a quitter, but after the string of seasons before it (skipping China, of course) with early boots getting completely shafted in the editing room, we had this random young kid with confidence issues have one of the best storylines ever seen on the show for a pre merge boot. I thought that was really cool, and, even if you may dislike him, I don't see how you can't at least appreciate GC as a character.
