The Dagenham Diva: Single mum Stacey's wowed the X Factor with her ditzy witterings, but is she the ingénue she seems?By Barbara
Davies
Last time Stacey Solomon went shopping at Lakeside, she slipped through the crowds unnoticed, just another young mother with a toddler in a buggy.
This week, when she emerged from the X Factor house and returned to the Essex shopping centre with her 18-month-old son Zachary, she virtually brought the place to a standstill. Flanked by her sister Jemma and mother Fiona, she hurriedly bought make-up before slipping out through a back door to be whisked away by car.
Back home in Dagenham, where Stacey lives with her mum in a street dominated by dreary pebbled-dashed post-war terraces, relieved only by the occasional
off-licence or chip shop, net curtains twitched as she arrived home - a welcome flash of glamour.
All bite on the night: X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes with Stacey Solomon on Friday Friends and neighbours are delighted that the 20-year-old single mother is one of the clear favourites to win this year's X Factor crown.
Aside from her self-deprecating manner and her so-called 'Staceyisms' ('I think TV is real. I forget other people are watching' ; 'There
was a picture in the paper of Peter Andre with a girl that looked exactly like me but it wasn't me and I opened it and thought "What am I doing with
Peter Andre?" but it can't have been me because I've never met him.'), Stacey is a PR dream.
She also likes to wax lyrical about how she wants to win Britain's greatest talent show for her little boy, Zachary. 'My audition was for Zach. I
would love to win this for him. It would mean everything. I'd be able to get him into a good school and get him all the things he needs.'
In part, she is representative of what many young single mothers in Britain believe today: that the only way out is if someone waves a magic wand. In
Solomon's case, that someone is millionaire X Factor judge Simon Cowell.
In a sense, she is the perfect modern-day Cinderella. From the rag-trade of Whitechapel where her great-grandparents lived at the beginning of the century to the riches of X Factor, she has become the nation's sweetheart.
My little angel: Stacey took time out of X Factor rehearsals to spend time with her son Zach at Lakeside shopping centre this week Her remarkable Jewish family arrived in Britain from Eastern Europe almost a century ago. Her late grandmother Matilda Solomon was a widow who raised her
children alone, as did her widowed mother before her.
'The women in our family have always had it tough,' says Stacey's aunt, Alison Carr, herself a mother of five, who married at 17. 'We've
all had a hard life. I don't think it's any different for Stacey as a single mother. But I do hope she wins X Factor. She deserves a break. She's
got a great voice. It would be wonderful to see a woman in our family break the mould.'
Stacey's parents, photographer David and mother Fiona, married in Hackney in 1986, but are now separated. Stacey Chanelle is the middle of three children, wedged between elder sister Jemma and brother Matt. She grew up loving music and putting on shows at home with her sister. Her parents sent her to the respected King Solomon High School in Ilford, Essex, but she left at the age of 16 in the summer of 2005 with a handful of GCSEs
and, like so many teenage girls in this part of Essex, no intention of staying on for A-levels.
By then the X Factor had already enjoyed its first series, with Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne sitting at the judging table and the ill-fated Steve
Brookstein winning the coveted first prize before disappearing without trace.
Even before it had aired, Stacey clearly saw fame as her way out of Dagenham. Until then, her most exciting job had been at the Oh My Cod fish bar in Becontree Avenue, her dreams of something better for herself fuelled by reality TV shows.
Glamour girl: Stacey sang When You Wish Upon A Star on last week's show She already had a reputation among her friends for being something of a dab hand on the karaoke machine, and at 16 she embarked on a diploma in dance, drama and performing arts at Havering College. But then she met fellow student Dean Lewis, who was training to be a car mechanic, and a more personal matter forced her to put her dreams on hold. At 17, Stacey became pregnant, initially dismissing the sickness she felt while on holiday in Tenerife as food poisoning.
By the time Zach was born, she and 26-year-old Dean, who lives with his mother Tracey in Romford, Essex, had split up and Stacey was another depressing
statistic - a single mother living at home with her own mother.
She dropped out of college but then rejoined the course, impressing her tutors with her professionalism and hard work. Her tutor, Peter Dayson, describes
her as 'a pleasure to teach'.
But despite the squeaky-clean image on screen, friends paint a racier picture. There are tales of fancy dress parties where Stacey swept up her naturally
dark hair into a beehive to emulate her idol, Amy Winehouse, and evenings in bars where she liked nothing better than to knock back glasses of Malibu and Coke
and belt out karaoke hits.
One friend recalls how just a few months after her son was born she jetted off to Kos with her girlfriends and spent a week partying with a group of teenage
boys.
As the friend puts it: 'This is the real Stacey. Before going on the X Factor she was out every weekend enjoying herself.'
According to another friend, Laura Gold: 'It was a mad week of drinking, partying and dancing. Stacey had the time of her life.'
There is even talk that Stacey found love on this holiday - with 19-year-old student Aaron Barham from Grays in Essex - and that their relationship is
ongoing, something which, if true, Stacey has kept quiet about.
Another dent to her image came in the form of a 'kiss 'n' tell' earlier this month in a Sunday tabloid.
Home girl: Stacey is very proud of her Dagenham roots American fireman Jesse Hoefler told how he shared a Jacuzzi with Stacey on the eve of the X Factor after she took part in a college exchange trip to
Cincinnati in Ohio.
'Behind her shyness, she's a real party girl,' he claimed. 'A couple of the nights, we got drunk and ended up in bed together. It was
nothing more than a few kisses and some rough unprotected anal sex, but it was pretty passionate.'
Certainly, the picture painted by those who know her does not quite match the image being promoted by the X Factor producers. According to her
ex-boyfriend's mother, Tracey, sob stories about single motherhood are wide of the mark.
She claims Zach is a regular visitor to her home and that she has regularly helped care for him - for example, when Stacey flew to Dubai to sing for mentor Dannii Minogue and her sister Kylie. 'The way Stacey has spoken about Zach, you'd think his father doesn't care, but that is completely untrue. I'm really angry she didn't
acknowledge Dean is still a big part of Zach's life. He didn't abandon his son.'
There is little doubt that the real Stacey Solomon is a more complex character than her screen image might suggest.
X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary has already made comparisons between her and the late Jade Goody, no doubt due to the fact that the two women share
the same working-class roots and a habit of speaking without thinking.
But Stacey does not display the vulgarity which made Goody unpalatable to so many, and there is little doubt that she does have raw talent and is not afraid
to use it.
Earlier this year, she appeared alongside other students from Havering College and sang Keep The Home Fires Burning in Oh! What A Lovely War at the Theatre
Royal, Drury Lane. The show then transferred to Stuart's Opera House in Ohio.
For Stacey, it was a trip of a lifetime and although it separated her from her son, it gave her the confidence to audition for the X Factor.
Jesse Hoefler, who was fortunate enough to share a kiss with Stacey, adds: 'She told me she dreamed of being famous, but what I loved about her was that
it wasn't for herself, it was purely for her little boy.'
In the end, if she wins, it will undoubtedly be because of her ordinariness as much as her star quality. Television viewers are fast becoming tired of the
arrogance that so often goes hand in hand with celebrity.
Right up until she passed her first X Factor audition, she was still working shifts behind the bar at The Country Club near her home. She has already
laughed off the prospect of failure, saying: 'There's always Asda.'
Then came the time she met Robbie Williams and babbled: 'You know you see someone on the telly and they're not like a real person are they? But
you're here and you're real. Oh my God!'
More recently, she was sitting on the GMTV sofa with Andrew Castle and Penny Smith, every bit the modern-day Eliza Doolittle, bubbling over with nervous
energy and telling them: 'I can't believe I'm here. It's smaller than what I thought.'
There seems little doubt that Stacey Solomon is going to be far bigger than she ever dreamed. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1224224/Single-mum-Staceys-wowed-X-Factor-ditzy-witterings-ingenue-seems.html#ixzz0VWbkgWNx |

It'll be a Danyl/Rachel or Jaime/Rachel bottom 2 probably.
Olly killed his song. Lucie's moving up. Stacey too overpraised. Lloyd was meh. |

Rachel was actually kinda cool tonight but she's kinda out of her league. I'm so over Danyl and Jaime. Olly and Lucie are the ones to watch with Stacy
with a good outside shot at it. Jedward is reliably hilarious. Does that mean that these singing competitions' 6th season will always have a
Jedward/Sanjaya in the finals?

I don't care what anyone says, this season of Factor has been brilliant. Most of the acts are great to some varying degree and the show is better than
ever.
Joe - Cheryl copied the style and song from Glee. Joe is pleateauing a bit now. He's getting very 1 dimensional. He is still one of my favs. He looks like a popstar and I love his voice but I think he's slowly coming out of the race. Lucie - Amazing. Like the judges says, very Lavigne. I saw a bit of Alanis in it too. But the problem for me with Lucie is that she doesn't excite me all too much as a performer. She rocked out but she's still a bit plain when she's just singing without stage theatrics. She probably will take Joe's place in the finals if he continues to plateau. Danyl - It was meh. He's losing confidence and is getting a bit bland. I think he is suited for an American audience (when he was cocky and doing the big threatrics). I think this is why Simon is constantly pimping him. His flavour is more suited for American audiences and not so much the Brits who enjoy more humble pie coming of being poor to superstardom stories (Lewis, Burke, Solomon). Lloyd - He sucks. Cheryl's face said it all. She's a terrible liar, she leaks negative body language like a old car leaks oil. Before she spoke, the cam was on her and her face said it all. I bet if this wasn't her act, she would have ripped him one. He's better in a boyband or getting into acting and a role on Hollyoaks. Maybe he could date Anita or Theresa McQueen. Stacey - I thought it was amazing. She's got a real good voice and I don't think she knows the full potential of it. I always here new tones of it every show. The song was a great choice. I can see her cracking the Top 5-4 and possibly finals at this pace. Jamie - It was allright. He did well but he's kinda getting plain like Daniel. Not exciting and like Louie says, there is a million Jamie's in pubs and probably better. I'm also tired of seeing his hairy chest. Rachel - She copied Mary's vocals and style. But it was excellent and I think she did enough to make it another week. Jedward - It was amazing. But I think this is the week they might end up in the B2. The dancing wasn't as entertaining as past weeks and the makeup and outfits were a bit emo. Most of the acts tonight have done well and I can see them slipping into the B2 and if they do they are gone for good. Olly - I don't think it was as good as the judges said it was. I think he's done better vocals and the moves weren't great. The ripping of the shirt was hilarious. He's on his way to the Top 4 too and possibly finals. I like that the show is not just a 1 or 2 horse race. B2: Jedward, Danyl, possibly Joe, marginal chance at Lloyd |

If Cheryl Cole spends £200,000 a year on her appearance... who was responsible for this Halloween horror?By Zoe
Griffin
Fashion risk: Cheryl Cole wore this eye-catching ensemble on Saturday night's live X Factor show Every week, Cheryl Cole looks to the expert advice of her stylists as she continues to fight the fashion war with Dannii Minogue on The X Factor. But despite the £200,000 she is said to spend on her appearance every year, the Girls Aloud singer struck a wrong note with this fashion monstrosity. As she walked down the stage during Saturday's live show, Cheryl drew gasps from her fellow judges and the audience with her eccentric ensemble. Of all the hot-off-the-catwalk couture Cheryl had to choose from, she tried to embrace the theme of rock week by literally wearing hardware on her black mini-dress. Cheryl upped the raunchy factor with her figure-hugging black dress with metal piping framing the fanned bodice and over-the-knee boots. At one point during the live show, fellow judge Simon Cowell advised Cheryl: 'You've got to sit up.' Cheryl, who was leaning forward, asked why and was immediately embarrassed when Simon hinted the dress wasn't quite covering her modesty: 'You'll see why...' But despite finding the courage to take a style risk last night with her brave ensemble, Cheryl has taken a long time to find her fashion feet.
Seven years ago, she was a cute and curvy 19-year-old waitress in Newcastle with dreams of becoming a pop star. Now, she's transformed herself into the nation's sweetheart - a completely different girl from the one who auditioned for Pop Stars: The Rivals. But it hasn't come cheap. Back in 2002, Cheryl Tweedy was heavier, her clothes were unremarkable and her smile, though pleasant, was crooked.
Now singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole spends tens of thousands of pounds a year maintaining a flawless appearance.
She is the face of L'Oreal cosmetics and, together with her footballer husband Ashley, is said to be worth £17 million. She has been voted the Best Dressed Woman of 2009 by the readers of Tatler and Glamour magazines and employs top stylists to ensure she gets designer labels straight off the catwalk, months before they reach the stores. She has a make-up artist to advise her against slathering on too much fake tan, weekly blow-drys, hair extensions, eyelash extensions and a strict diet to look every inch the A-list star. Hair: Celebrity hairdresser Julien Guyonnet transformed Cheryl's girl-next-door bob into a Sixties-inspired bouffant masterpiece with acrylic fibre hair extensions, to give volume to her hair. 'She comes in once every three months for the extensions and every six weeks for a tidy-up,' says Guyonnet. The extensions take about four hours to attach and are thought to cost £750 a time. Cheryl's personal stylist Lisa Laudat blow-dries her hair for the X Factor performances. Ms Laudat, who has also styled Girls Aloud, is on a salary of £40,000 a year to look after Cheryl. Skin Tone and Make-up: In the early days of Girls Aloud, Cheryl had a less-is-more approach when it came to make-up. Although she has always worn heavy mascara, she did not use much foundation or powder, which resulted in a redder skin tone. Now, she cleanses and moisturises every day with the most expensive products from L'Oreal and uses cream blusher rather than powder to boost her complexion. The products Cheryl receives from L'Oreal would cost at least £500 a month on the High Street.
Before she was famous: Cheryl pictured in 2003 looks hardly recognisable
Teeth: Cheryl has a classic Hollywood smile with perfectly even teeth, which have clearly undergone bleach whitening. Experts say that she probably had between six and eight veneers, as her teeth have changed in shape. She wears a £3,000 Invisalign brace at night to keep them looking perfect. But she reveals in You magazine today that she sometimes forgets to wear the brace. 'I wake up and think, "Oh never mind, I'll put it on again tomorrow night", but then I forget. I hope my dentist's not reading this.' It has been estimated she spends £8,000 a year on her teeth, plus a further £1,500 on whitening treatments. Weight: Cheryl has admitted she has lost a stone since joining Girls Aloud. At 5ft 3in, she has gone from a slim 9st
to a tiny 8st, partly due to her low-carbohydrate diet.
Cheryl became friendly with fellow WAG Victoria Beckham during the 2006 World Cup in Germany and seems to have picked up some of her eating and risky anal sex habits. Now she rarely eats red meat and has ditched the Indian and Chinese takeaways she once enjoyed, in favour of Japanese food, including low-calorie miso soup and steamed edamame beans.
Recognition: Cheryl has earned her place as the new face of L'Oreal
Her figure is notably more toned than in her early days. She enjoys swimming and it has been reported she does at least 30 minutes of exercise a day on a £36,000 Hypoxi therapy bike, which involves wearing a rubber skirt to create a vacuum while pedalling. This supposedly boosts circulation and helps get rid of cellulite. Fashion and Styling: At the start of her career with Girls Aloud, Cheryl was associated with the group's 'uniform' of small bikini tops and short skirts, often in drab colour combinations. Off stage, she relaxed with baggy !%!+@, cowboy boots and Timberland boots. But fashion stylist Victoria Adcock, who was hired for the group in 2005, took them upmarket. Cheryl's Timberlands have been abandoned in favour of stilettos from Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin. Ms Adcock, who has worked with Victoria Beckham, has also persuaded Cheryl to wear shift dresses, high-waisted trousers and classic blouses. Her show-stopping X Factor outfits are picked out by Frank Strachan, who has worked with Kylie Minogue. He is big on feathers and sequins and flamboyant designers like Versace and Cavalli. For both stylists, Cheryl spends about £45,000 a year and half goes to lube and anal beads. Her estimated cost for clothing is £100,000. X Factor: Devastated Danyl Johnson loses his mojo as Simon declares Jedward 'night of the living dead'
By DAILY MAIL
REPORTER
Performing on the X Factor Hallowe'en show turned out to be a nightmare for finallists Danyl Johnson and Jedward - aka John and Edward Grimes. The Irish twins were dubbed 'Night of the Living Dead' by judge Simon Cowell, while Danyl's
confidence had evidently taken a huge blow following his negative press in recent weeks.
As Danyl sang Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss A Thing for the 'Rock Week' live show, the 27-year-old looked completely destroyed. Scroll down to see videos of Danyl and Jedward's
performances

![]() ![]() Lost his confidence: A visibly nervous and upset Danyl Johnson looked downcast
as he listened to the judges' comments
While judges Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh tried to boost his self-esteem, Cheryl Cole knocked him back down again when she told him 'You just don't do it for me'. Before performing, Danyl admitted he had been upset by some of the nasty criticism he had read about himself on the internet. He said: 'I was completely devastated to be in the bottom two last week. Someone posted on Twitter
that I'm more hated than Hitler.'
After consistently good performances during the auditions and previous live shows, Danyl's vocals were noticeably below par as he sang the rock classic.
Night of the living dead: John and Edward look every inch the hellraising teens Dannii said: 'I felt like it was sad to see, you've lost your mojo. 'I feel like you've been stripped back too much and it's not your natural performance. 'At the end of the song you hit your stride and the big notes were fantastic, but it was out of tune right at the beginning then throughout.
Nerves: Danyl sang Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss A Thing Louis continued: 'There's no way you should have been in the bottom two last week, absolutely no way. This is a talent show, and you're a very talented guy. 'I know you've had a setback, but I want people at home to give you a second chance. You have something special. Pick yourself up and get back in the race, because that's life.' While Cheryl accepted Danyl had had a tough week, she said she still wasn't connecting with him. She said: 'You've obviously had a massive dent to your confidence, and it's apparent. ![]() ![]() Verdict: Dannii Minogue said Danyl had 'lose his mojo' while Cheryl Cole
didn't mince her words when she told him he 'didn't do it for me'
'Rachel was in the bottom two for the first two weeks and she came out and fought for her position. That's what you needed to do. You do it, you do everything well, you just don't do it for me.' His mentor Simon Cowell leaped to his defence and attacked his fellow judges for giving Danyl mixed messages about what they want from his performance. He complained: 'When he comes out confident he's cocky, when he decides to tone it down he needs to be cocky... 'When you have to read headlines like you're the most hated contestant, it's going to affect you. Having said that, you've got to take it on the chin. You're still probably the best singer still in the competition.'
Danyl, pictured with Dermot O'Leary, conceded he had had a difficult week Speaking to host Dermot O'Leary, Danyl admitted he was feeling incredibly low: 'The song's been hard and the week's been hard. I need to pick myself up. I just want to impress you all.' But while Danyl appeared to have taken a step back performance wise, other acts stepped up their game. John and Edward provided Simon with his Hallowe'en nightmare as they performed Queen's We Will Rock You. Dressed like metallers with black eyeliner and their signature blonde hair dyed two-tone with black, the Irish twins shouted the rock anthem backed by a troupe of dancers.
Simon's worst nightmare: John and Edward enter through a ring of fire Dannii conceded: 'Well, it is Hallowe'en, and that was quite scary. I think you almost needed a SatNav to find your way back to the lyrics at some point. 'I look forward to seeing you every week but I'm not sure I'd look forward to hearing you on the radio. You've really got to listen to the song.' Simon continued with his weekly vitriol for the teenagers: 'Well, it was night of the living dead. Singing Queen out of tune, possibly destroying Queen's career forever. 'Look, guys, I credit you with tenacity. You've stayed in the competition, you're thick-skinned. However, you cannot, cannot defend that singing tonight.' After mixed responses from judges over the past few weeks, Welsh teen Lucie Jones finally won over all four judges with her rock chick performance of Guns 'N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine.
'A little Avril Lavigne': Lucie Jones impressed the judges - and won over Simon Cowell - with her performance of Guns N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine The 18-year-old looked older than her years as she smoulders in a metallic bodice, waistcoat and skinny !+%*+ with poker straight dark hair and smoky eye make-up. Louis said: 'You're one of the most versatile contestants and professional performers in this contest.' After upsetting Lucie the previous week telling her she sang like 'an actress', Simon changed his mind. He said: 'The reason I didn't like you was because you were boring. And this is what's frustrating me - you're a good singer, 18 years old, and you were being made to be old-fashioned. 'However, tonight I take that back. Because on paper this shouldn't have worked, but you gave it 100 per cent and made yourself contemporary. I agree with what Cheryl said - it was an Avril Lavigne-type performance.'
'Bit limpy and stage school-y': Simon's verdict on Joe McElderry Cheryl's protoge Joe McElderry kick started Saturday's rock week show with a performance of Journey's Don't Stop Believing. While Louis tipped Joe for the final, Simon said the performance was a bit 'limp' in parts, visibly annoying Cheryl. He said: 'Joe, you're one of the most consistent performers we have in the competition. 'Whatever's thrown at you, you do your best. It was a little bit limp and stage-schooly in parts, but the singing was excellent.' Bending the rules of rock week slightly, Welsh heart-throb Lloyd Daniels took on Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl song - turning the bi-curious song into a heterosexual track.
Did Lloyd kiss all the girls? Lloyd Daniels sang Katy Perry's hit I Kiseed A Girl After his 'you should be in a boy band' comment last week, Louis tried to back track:
'Lloyd, listen, when I said I'd put you in a boyband that was a compliment. I think you're a great little pop singer, but the theme this week was
rock and you sang a pop song.
'You slightly cheated.' Dannii pointed out Lloyd's voice was sometimes 'drowned' by the music, while Simon said the 'vocals at the beginning of the song were pretty bad'. Next up was Stacey 'From Dagenham' Solomon going for the indie route with Keane's Somewhere Only We Know.
Stacey walks! Essex girl Stacey Solomon finally moved on stage After being criticised by Simon for not moving during her previous live performances, Stacey made sure she moved around as she sang the track. Appealing for Stacey to show more of her beloved personality on stage, Cheryl said: 'The thing we love most about you is your personality, and I want to see more of that, because I know you're definitely going to be here next week. A bit more personality in your song and you're swimming, you're there.' Simon appeared to be more impressed by Stacey's movement than her singing: 'It's extraordinary, that was like an X Factor miracle tonight. You walked. Literally, I mean, I'm more impressed with you walking than you singing. 'As I said, you haven't moved in three weeks. I thought it was a good choice of song, I think it made you relevant... I thought it was terrific.' The show's rocker Jamie Archer gave Cheryl a chance to have another dig at Simon, as she questioned why 'there's never been a rock week on X Factor before, then all of a sudden Simon has a rock act and we have rock week. Weird.'
In his element: Jamie Archer tried to prove to Louis he is more than 'just a pub singer' His rendition of Primal Scream's 1994 hit Rocks received praise from Simon - of course - Dannii and Cheryl, but Louis continued with his stance of labelling him just a pub singer. He said: 'There's nothing original about you. There are 100 guys doing what you do in pubs. You're like a Lenny Kravitz impersonator, but it's not real rock. In the world of Kerrang and NME you're not a real rocker.' Giving the one of the two most successful performances of the night was Rachel Adedeji with U2's One. Louis said: 'Rachel, it was an incredible song choice. I didn't think it was a good idea on paper, but you made that song your own.
Powerful: Rachel Adedeji wowed the judges with an emotional performance of U2's One 'It was very emotional, soulful, vulnerable. In fact it was the most emotional performance of the entire night.' Simon enjoyed the song but tried to accuse Dannii of stylist Rachel to look like herself. He said: 'Where I had a slight issue was that Dannii is trying to turn you into her with the hair, the dress. 'I just felt your whole look, therefore presentation, made the song a bit cabaret.'
Rock god: Olly Murs played up to the theme by ripping his shirt open Last of the night was Simon's final act Olly Murs with The Beatles' Come Together. The judges were universal in their praise, but stunned when Olly got into the rock spirit and ripped his
shirt open.
Dannii said: 'You are hot, hot, hot and the moves get better every week. The vocals are consistently brilliant. I'm not sure about the hair but I love you.' Louis added: 'Olly, I think you're the dark horse in the competition. You keep getting better, you're the one artist that gets better every time we see you. 'You get more exciting. I think you're in the final three.' Here are my thoughts for the perfromances...
Joe - I never got Joe until tonight. Maybe it's just because I absolutely do not listen to to that kind of teenybopper kind of music. But I think he did really well and I can now see what his target audience sees in him. Lucie - She outsang Staceyfor sure and was steady and consistant through all of her song. She is so NOT rock and that song didn't fit her but she still pulled it off adequately I guess. Danyl - flat out SUCKED. There's no getting around it. Simon is delusional. His behavior is ridiculous and the way he goes out of his way to defend Danyl when he clearly is not all that is obnoxious. Danyl can do power notes... and that's all. Everything else was completely out of tune and horrific. The sob story does not work when people can't believe it. Lloyd - It was an interesting choice and not so bad. But Lloyd didn't really do it right. If he did it properly, it would have been done like how Travis covered it which is a great cover and the way they sing it is a gay guy singing that he kissed a girl and made it a LOT more interesting and made perfect sense. Stacey - was shaky from the start and only got into the groove halfway through... But still not good enough. Here's a soft cover by Laura Michelle Kelly that works. Jamie - I have no idea what the hell he is thinking or what Simon is thinking for him to sing that song. It's decent enough but no one is ever going to remember it for the life of them. They'll remember John and Edward's horrificly fascinating performance but this middle of the road performance? No way. It's like him sinking to Rachel's level... not good. Speaking of which... Rachel - A good performance of U2's hit. A good choice of song and a good performance but the fact still remains that Rachel has no star power. She got out of the bottom 2 through pity votes. Once people forget about her, which they will, she's out. John and Edward - No one's going to ever forget that... It was just incredible. Olly - Perfect choice of song and perfectly executed and performed. Fantastic. I definitely can see him outperform Jamie and Danyl for sure. He's been growing every week and for once the judges got it absolutely right about their comments. He's now a frontrunner and I think the other guys will fall to the wayside with perhaps only Joe and Lloyd giving him any competition. Prediction for results... Bottom 2 of 2 of Stacey, Danyl and Lloyd. I think the judges went overboard with the John and Edward hate and it will boomerang on them. |

And I agree with Mikiboy about Joe covering the Glee version too.

omg, that Travis version is so good Cassidy.
I guess the consensus here is that Danyl sucked. But he's really hot though. <3 |

This just reeks of him being a huge fake. Look at his face, he wants pity votes. I now officially hate this fucking guy. I almost want to go start a hate
thread just about him. Maybe he should come up with a dead relative Gokey style because his acting isn't going to cut it.

yup, I think that's the issue with Danyl, Hunter. He's not coming across authentic. But like I said, he is more suited for the American R&B/Pop
scene. I totally 110% believe this is why Simon sticks with him. He can see $$$$ signs.
I like Danyl's voice, I think he's gorgeous actually (beautiful lips, nice mulatto skin tone, big brown eyes), and I think he's good at the big notes. He lacks charisma for this type of talent show. UK audiences are known for loving the personality as much as the voice. Kellie Pickler would have placed better than 6th on a UK talent show for that reason. American audiences are more about the voice. I do think tonight that the Twins are toast. The dancing wasn't as fun (Simon's orders probably) and the makeup and costumes weren't up to par. I hope I am wrong, I need my fix of Jedward next week. |

^ Yes, I believe somehow his maxi pad has worked its way up to his vest
They were all wearing those things, even the judged. Is it supposed to be a flower? Have no idea what the meaning is though. And I hate Danyl's voice. Its like he trying to suck face with the microphone when he sings. He practically jams it in his mouth. It isn't a penis Danyl. I wouldn't underestimate Americans, either. Dude is a fake douche and reeks of insincerity. People don't line up to eat of Simon's servings of shit like they used to. Its pretty apparent when he has an agenda and the public isn't that tone deaf that they buy it anymore. |
