Gligar would be awesome if you could get Gliscor pre National-dex... but you can't
Are you playing the version with or without the Phanpy line? That's another option if you're looking for a Ground-type. |

the problem with HGSS is there are few ground types available early and the ones that are aren't that good (Sandshrew/Geodude line which a lot of people
don't like). Onix was good but then again, you can't fucking evolve it till like late in and we know Steelix is like one of the best ground types.
And you can't get Diglett till you reach Kanto or something... idk where the hell Phanpy went (used to be available way early in Crystal) and Swinub comes too late for my taste (+ I have Lapras). I'm actually meh on ground types. I like normal types best but they're scarce here. The previous locations Jigglypuff was at, she's not there anymore @_@ |

Well Phanpy/Donphan are exclusive to HeartGold. Could that be your problem?
So far HG's exclusives seem to be the more attractive. Arcanine >> Ninetales Gligar>>Delibird Mantine>>Skarmory Donphan>>Ursaring Kyogre>>Groudon Sableye>>Mawile So far the only SS I'd prefer woud be Ledian over Ariados and Persian over Primape... but HG's are outweighing SS's IMO. They might pull the same switch they did with the original Gold and Silver and swap Donphan and Ursaring around - though it's unlikely. The biggest mystery, though, is to what will be the English name of the 8th Kanto Gym Leader. Will it be Blue or Green?

I like Ninetales better, mainly cause i go for the pretty pokes. Competitively wise, Skarmory > > Mantine. Yeah I went there, considering you have 2 Water Pokes they're practically forcing you to get (Red Gyara, who's the same type as Mantine, and Lapras are both better additions). Meh on Sableye/Mawile. Agreeance on the rest. |

I was able to beat the E4 with a majority of 2 Pokemanz... LOL
You can almost sweep everyone using Scyther and Gyarados at enough levels... For Will Xatu can be defeated by Ice Fang, Exeggutor with a X-Scissor, Jynx and Slowbro with Night Slash or X-Scissor. Koga Ariados and Venomoth could be Wing Attacked to death, while Forretress and Muk can be dealt with 5 Dragon Dances, Waterfall, With Crobat being Ice Fanged OHKO-ed. Bruno All Fighting types - Scytherowned with Wing Attack and Onix with one Waterfall from Gyarados Karen Deal with Gengar, Vileplume and Umbreon with Scyther's attacks and Houndoom and Murkrow with Gyarados' Waterfall and Ice Fang. Lance Use Dragon Dance to Gyarados and refill your HP when low. Stupid Champion equips Dragon Pulse (a SPECIAL ATTACK) to a Gyarados (with SPECIAL ATTACK AS LOWEST) is stupid. The rest is History. Ice Fang his illegal Dragonites and Waterfall Charizard and Aerodactyl to death. :D off to Kanto I go! |
