Say, in 2050, they find a cure for cancer, and time travel is also possible. Can someone go back to 2009 and give the cure to someone who died? In 2050, can the person who was cured give the cure to the person who saved him and tell them to go back in time to save him? Or would the fact they died in 2009 preclude all possibility of that happening?

So when we see people from the year 3000 or whatever appearing everywhere, we'll know some boffin cracked it. Besides, how do you know there aren't already people here from the future - it's not like they would advertise it.

Not time traveling.

However it will not be used to cure cancer, but to go back in time and win bets of all future sporting event outcomes. There will also be skate boards without wheels, inflatable shoes and a Wal-McFly superstore on every street corner.
