In Greek mythology, the Minotaur (Greek: Μῑνώταυρος, Mīnṓtauros), as the Greeks imagined him, was a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a man or,
as described by Ovid, "part man and part bull." He dwelt at the center of the Cretan Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction built
for King Minos of Crete and designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus who were ordered to build it to hold the Minotaur. The Minotaur was
eventually killed by Theseus, the son of Aegeas.

I've actually been to Knossos, Crete and toured the palace ruins. The labyrinth was supposedly beneath the palace, but conventional wisdom has it that the
labyrinth legend grew out of the design of the palace itself. The entire complex is a very elaborate series of corridors, staircases and chambers that is very
much like a gigantic maze. Being the first modern civilization to emerge in the Mediterranean, the Minoans would have inspired all those that followed. By
the time the Greeks were in their heyday and this legend was spawned, King Minos' palace as it was originally built was already a distant memory. The
collective memories passed down through generations eventually became the labyrinth legend.
Anyhow, amazing place. Here's an artists' rendition of what the palace may have looked like in its prime:

so you want a moving bull avi? that hoity toity analogy stuff doesn't do well here.Pardon my subtlety and allow me to explain. There is a rule recently being enforced about the data size of avatars. Several over sized avatars have been shrunk to humorously small proportions in order to comply with this dictum. These miniaturized avatars are being referred to as minatars. Very close to the word Minotaurs. Seeing as how my avatar does not move I have no need to have it shrunk. Seeing as how I have no self worth other than what is provided to me by people who post on message boards I feel left out and suicidal due to my disgustingly large avatar. Therefore, I wish my avatar moved and exceeded the data size mandate so that it would have to be shrunk and I could then regain my crushed and hyperdependant self image by being part of the group. Hope that helped! |
