I had the opportunity to visit there this weekend and fell in love with the city. Is it generally that amazing or is it only like that on Halloween? People
were very friendly and it had a nice, laid back attitude. And I could wear shorts in October, which is always a plus.

Texas in general, are very friendly people. Combine that with a liberal town like Austin, and it should be just about perfect.

I was there 2 weeks ago and I really liked it. It was different than Dallas or Houston.

You go to Austin if you're young and liberal and can stand everything being about the Longhorns 24/7.
You go to Dallas if you're young and conservative and like the image of Texas portrayed by Hollywood, except with a modern urban feeling. You go to Houston if you're in the energy business (I'm hard pressed to find a reason other than that to live in Houston -- why go to Houston for the medical profession when your cost of living is not as high in SA with the UTHSC?). You go to El Paso if you want cheap drugs (both of the legal and illegal kind) and don't mind using Spanish in some establishments solely. You go to San Antonio if you want to settle down and raise a family in a fairly large city that still feels like a small town. |
