Survivor's like the Madonna of reality shows, it keeps reinventing itself every season so it's always fresh one way or the other so the fans never
really get tired of it.
and to whoever mentioned American Idol, it doesn't count since technically it's only had 8 editions so far as opposed to Survivor's 19 and it's already starting to look stale and threatened by being replaced with the X Factor. |

Interesting. Never happened to me and I've downloaded eps for years, using them for chops and youtube vids. Didn't realize they'd gone nazi on
people when it only benefits them to allow this kind of stuff.
Madonna of reality tv is correct, because while Madonna "re-invents" herself, it's generally just a twist on the same thing: horny sexy chick. Just like Survivor. Regardless of how much they try to change things what with huge casts, double boots, tribe shuffles, 4 tribes, Hidden Immunities, exile islands, Outcasts, returning players, etc. it's still the same show. Throw random people together under trying conditions and see who has the best social game to win. Amazing nobody thought of this first! Oh wait...Expedition Robinson...but that was Europe so we can pretend it never happened

IMO, a large part of the problem is the concept is lost... it used to be about the social dynamics that unfolded among groups of normal people thrown together
into the survivor circumstances. Now they've created a westernized movie version of survivor with a good/evil story arch and a focus on individual
characters rather than the overall social dynamic. If I wanted to watch that, I'd rent a superhero movie or Star Wars or something.

Every once in a while I download random eps from earlier seasons just to see how different things were when Probst was just the host. Actually they weren't
really that different, just more even focus on all the characters vs. what we see today where they will absolutely ignore certain people and plotlines to focus
on what they think is the story of the season.
