First as a persecuted group, then as a vicious and bloodthirsty band of maniacs, then a long, slow cooling off period after which they end up being decent members of human civilization. Umm WTF? Muslims were never "persecuted." Islam spread EXTREMELY rapidly by brute force alone. It was only a little over 100 years after Mo's death that they had conquered all of the Arabian peninsula, across North Africa all the way to Spain. There is absolutely no comparison between the rise of Christianity (or the Jews which is an even more diff situation) and the rise of Islam whatsoevs

Religion is simply the language through which politics is expressed. You take a secular conflict over power and/or resources, and turn it into one between good and evil. Now that's how you fight a war.

They are under constant threat of death because of the shadowy players who want the entire world under Sharia Law...because it allows them absolute control over not only the populace, but the wealth of entire nations! Sounds a bit like Catholicism doesn't it? Subjugate the locals, keep them poor but pious, then build enormous cathedrals while the locals live in huts with dirt floors.

My definition of Abrahamic is something that can be traceable directly to Abraham. Judiasm can. By extension, Christianity can. Islam cannot. Mohammad was trying to get the local Jews in Arabia to agree that he was a prophet and to follow him. They laughed at him. He claimed that Arabs were descended from Ishmael, born to Abraham by his servant, Hagar. The Jews still didn't buy it - no matter what he claimed, Mohammad was not a Jew and therefore could not be a Jewish prophet. Mohammad then gets really pissed at the Jews, beheads the men and enslaves the women and children. Nice guy. 1400 years later, the jihadis are still at it. Now, others might say that Islam is "Abrahamic" because Abraham is featured so much in the Koran. But since it is based on a false claim (well, to any non-Muslim), I don't think it can be considered Abrahamic.
