Not like we really got a whole lot. Hardy and Gomez seem to have the same offensive skills, but Gomez has speed. I guess we just couldn't wait any more for him to grow up. The big positive for us is that it shows O Cabrera (a FA) that we'll be just fine at SS if he asks too much. Ideally one of the will switch to 3B and we'll have a heck of a left side.

I only say that because Hardy at least has had one All Star season. His defense at the short has always been above average. If he can "fix" whatever was wrong with him at the plate this year, and go back to the .280 / 25 home run player that he used to be... he has the tools to become an All Star once again. From all I've heard about Gomez, he seems like a Jody Gerut-esque scrub who has never done anything at a pro level and will likely ride the pine for the majority of the season.

Remove this ad I've heard that the acoustics are different in the new Yankee Stadium, which probably accounts for the fans seeming less cacophonous than in the past. My main problem with the Yankee faithful was that they didn't know when to quit with the Who's Your Daddys. Note to the fans: Ok, we get it! It's fucking old!

I can live with that fact. Oh and i can say with 100% certainty that Philly fans enjoyed ours more last year than Yankees fans did this year. The price of being spoiled fans i guess. It was actually weird watching us get beat. It had been a while. :)
