Oprah's doing her show today based on this A&E series. Hoping she does updates with the hoarders.

Oprah is featuring the couple who were in danger of losing their kids - Jennifer and Ron. They actually split up. She moved out and lives in a tidy,
uncluttered apartment with her kids. Ron still lives in the house, which still has clutter but it's neater.

Because I wanted to post this somewhere::
Woman found in Fla. home under 8 feet of trash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - City officials have condemned the home where a 71-year-old woman was found dead in garbage piled 8 feet deep.
The stench was so bad that the police had to call in firefighters with breathing gear and eventually cadaver dogs to help find the body of Carina E. Decampo. Officers were checking on her late Tuesday after worried family members called to say they hadn't heard from her in weeks. They were met with what police called "unbelievable squalor" and a stench that made some officers ill. After being unable to locate the woman Tuesday night, police re-entered Wednesday morning and searched for about 20 minutes before calling for help. Cadaver dogs finally found Decampo's body near the front door. An autopsy is being performed to determine how she died. ___ Information from: The Florida Times-Union, http://www.jacksonville.com |

They are replaying the Jill/Ron episode right now on A&E. Beware of puffy food. |

heh, you know there's a problem when cadaver dogs are used to find you in your own home.

Much as Oprah can annoy me at times, I did like how she refused to let the hoarders off the hook completely. She was very much in the "Yes, I see that
it's a mental disorder and that these people are depressed, but that doesn't mean that laziness isn't one of the symptoms of that disorder." I
mean, I feel for these people? But just like a junkie can also be a selfish ass, a hoarder can be a slob.
Linda (the mom who had to clear out the house so it could be sold as part of her divorce settlement) seemed just as delusional as on the show, and her new house is going to be just as trashed as the old one in about a year's time. Apparently, Missy (woman with the little boy "hoarder") asked for $5000 to fix her floors to appear on Oprah. They didn't call her back. |

Were the hoarders actually there or on SKYPE?

They were in studio. The one woman, Linda (a.k.a. woman who bought the armadillo purse) had 3 of her children there and one on SKYPE. SHe's in denial about
the fact that she's still a hoarder. Wish Oprah would have asked her if she still goes to thrift stores.

Love the Michigan animal cops. I wish they'd drop those Florida assholes and go back there. I've seen all the repeats. Several times.

I saw a commercial for the new season starting Nov.30...when the people that come to help arrive with SHOVELS, maybe it is time to just light a match to a
gallon of gasoline and be done with it.

It's about time they started having new episodes. I thought it was canceled or something until I saw this. Yay.

Better shovels than letting the nutcases mull over every single one of the 10,497 candy wrappers they can't bear to part with. ::memories::

If this show doesn't get you to clean out that closet - then nothing will.
I can't help but look at a LOT of these people and think "lazy." Sure, there are some who have mental issues, but for a great deal of them - I think they're just too fucking lazy to take the garbage out. |

I agree. I though the gay kid with the alcoholic father and over the hill boyfriend last season was faking the disorder to hide his trifling ways. None of his
angst rang true to me.
