It's just an idiot move. Better to trust the devil you know...get the point? Besides, the target on Rob's back must be bigger than Russell's. Coach should have tried to pull on Tracy/Caryn maneuver and use Rob as a human shield.
It could kind of be like an Amy from FVF situation. Coach (ala Erik) desperate to stay pulls out all the stops. Potentially bringing to the surface a "deal" that was meaningless to have Rob's alliance mistrust him, it works and Rob is booted. Ironically if this is the situation Rob (like Ami) is the last pre-jury boot. My guess is Rob was 5th in that alliance anyway and made Coach's plan a little easier.
I'd be surprised if Coach does anything intentional to get Rob booted, All during Tocantins, Coach wasn't interested in playing to win (as he admitted) but rather was all about honor and integrity and getting the strongest players to the end. He is likely involved in separate agreements with both Russell and Rob not to write each others name down as manifestations of the Samoa version of 'warriors alliance'. I can see Coach inadvertantly telling Russell that he has agreements with both Russ and Rob not to write each others name down and that gets Rob in trouble. But, who knows? Maybe Coach will actually play the game this time.
