Don was aware of all of Pete's talents. I didn't know he realized that Pete was a forward thinker.
I can't help feeling that Don is taking a huge step forward and Betty, perhaps, is taking a step backwards. Maybe hanging out with Francis for 6 weeks will bore her silly... |

Well that ended almost as well as most people hoped for (though I was hoping for Sal to come back, and the line about nobody having the key to the art dept.
made me think that was also a nod to his talents).

Yeah, I think it was definitely a nod to Sal.
I wanted him back too, but when I thought about it, if he came back along with Joanie, and with Peggy & Pete agreeing to come aboard, it would have been a little too pat. More like a Happy Days reunion show than a Mad Men episode. Fucking AWESOME episode. |

Even though I'm dying for Sal to come back, I had a feeling it wouldn't be until next season.
Now they can have an episode where he joins SCDP, gets his revenge against the lecherous Lee Jr. and then goes and has a hot threesome with Elliot and the Bellboy. :) |

I loved it when the lawyer assumed that Betty & Henry were already sleeping together, the way Betty reacted like "I would never have an affair".
Maybe if there was a tavern back room around they might have already done it.

^I also thought it was funny that Francis gets huffy about how the governor doesn't need another scandal, yet he's on the plane with Betty to Reno.
Who doesn't love a "get the team together" caper? I would suppose this means they cannot jump too far forward to start the next season. We have to see the baby company go through all its growing pains. Seeing Pete, Peggy and Trudy in the same small room was one interesting twist. Don gets his fire back at work while his homelife crumbles. I thought Hamm was perfection, again. But, I gotta say, my love for Roger/John Slattery exceeds all. |

Thoroughly enjoyable episode. I have no doubt that Betty will spend a few weeks in Reno with dude and come running back. I hope Don has embraced his
bachelorhood by then and tells her to unhand the kids and kick rocks.

Great episode. I found myself holding my breath until Peggy said yes.
I really like the British fop so I was happy to see him come along. Loved how Roger was sitting on the sofa reading the paper as everyone was a buzz of activity in the room around him. God, Joan is fucking awesome. Loved the scene of all the rejects standing around realizing what happened. Especially Paul. Except for Sal, who I hope they will bring back next season, I loved the makeup of the new company. But I wouldn't mind Don's most recent secretary (Lois?) submitting an application for Sterling, Cooper, Draper and Price. She has a way with an eye roll that seems custom made for this new company. |

It was brilliantly done. If this on episode doesn't get Hamm the Emmy I give up all hope on the voters of that thing. Now Joan can really shine. I think we
are going to see her on a similar rise like Peggy now. Making her way up in corporate America. And I do like the Trudy aspect of her being on board. She seemed
happier, plus with Peggy and her now in the same room it should bring in a good dynamic.

When Don said "Fire us" I shouted "Joan will be back" followed by a sound kinda like "SQUEEEEEEE". I replayed that scene
several times, just to watch the looks on everybody's faces as they realized what they could do.

I feel like they took Joan away from us that many weeks so as to give us the full effect of her appearance on tonight's episode. Naturally they could not
start their new company without her. It sucks that they can't make her partner.
So does this mean no more Ken or Paul? What exactly is being left behind to be sold off? |

Given that the old Sterling Cooper is now a shell, basically a bunch of desks and low/midlevel people with no work, it will no doubt close. All those
people there will be job hunting and it wouldn't surprise me if some got picked up by SCDR. I too liked Don's secretary. She seemed to have the right
attitude - efficient, very pleasant, but absolutely no rose-colored glasses about Don. She'll end up there.
The rest of them? I don't know. They can quite honestly say that SCDR is too small right now, but check back in a while, thank you for your interest.
And I'm surprised at how much I respected Trudy, and their marriage. She seems like a true 60s style Wife/Partner. She's supportive, helpful,
chipper, keeps Pete from getting too whiny. Don's smile at Trudy when she brought in sandwiches was genuine and affectionate, almost like he was thinking,
"Oh, so that's how a supportive wife acts..."
