I gotta fiddle with the screen to get it back on.. but it's getting harder and harder to get it back on. Right now I have my screen at like a 60 degree angle.. just so it stays on. So I don't think it's a problem with the fan.
Was your Toshiba shutting down after overheating? I had a Toshiba with that problem for 7 years. I'd get the fan and some other part cleaned and it would be good to go for six or seven months and then it would start all over again. Now I have a Dell. No overheating problems (yet).
Dell is good? Really?
Personally I love my netbook. Of course with all my upgrades ( Extra Gb RAM, 7200RPM HD, new WiFi card, BT mouse, external monitor... ) it costs as much as a larger laptop. Still, I don't even know I'm carrying it and the battery lasts for hours. Only downside is the smallish keyboard and a tendency to hit the touchpad while typing ( There's a hotkey combo that'll disable the touchpad for long typing sessions. I also have a BT keyboard... )
Mine is a 10" MSI, but I've had good experiences with Asus too.
I'm not married to the idea of keeping it, and if it's an interior problem that I can't fix w/o the use of an air can, I'm not touching it.
It seems like it's blacking out again.. so that air can idea was REALLY a temp quick fix.
More suggestions please!! Most important.. what type of laptop? i.e. which brand to go for?!
