I really hate Tom, and wish he would have just left last season. He fucks this show up.

I did like this challenge though, and would have liked the quickfire if they had all known the kitchen, and if there were enough pots and pans etc. I also really wonder about that time-advantage, since they all appeared to hear about the challenge, but some had no time to conceptualize, while others had 2 hours to think about it.

The "theme" idea though was genius, but I don't think the dishes lived up to it. How hard was it to do medieval? A haunch of beef, sliced to order with spicy garnish, or any kind of game bird or animal would have been perfect.

I did think the "circus" one was the most difficult. I could only think of upscale mini-hot dogs (unique home-made sausages maybe?) on a fresh but clever "bun" of some sort? No clue, but certainly not peanut/white chocolate/carmel-apple "soup" with crushed popcorn in a plastic fucking cup!

Then again, that dude had ALL NIGHT to come up with something, and was actually in the place...and he could have just gone with the colors or even a trapeze or a door there and played off of that. OR played off the "3 ring" part of circus, and used that theme. Calamari ring inside a whatever ring inside another whatever ring...make they colorful and taste good.

The sustainable fish place was by far the easiest one though.

I checked out another forum, and I liked one description there of Eli's dish. It said that it looked like what your kid might puke up in a plastic cup after a day of peanuts, popcorn, and candied apples at the circus.
