Did he leave Walgreens by choice or was he laid off because of the recession?

Ahhhh so hatebrigade is Weems. Nice job, Weemsy. Great character nic.
Left by choice, Pseudo. NOT laid off. This is what happened: This brand new Walmart Supercenter recently opened about 8 tenths of a mile from my house. Back in mid-September I applied there just for fun, just to see what would happen (at the time I had no intention of leaving Walgreens). After putting me through the interview process they offered me an Assistant Manager position. I weighed the choice carefully and in the end decided to switch. Its slightly less money than what I was making before, but I took my 401k money from Walgreens and paid off every single one of my debts except the mortgage and now I'm actually holding more money than before. So that's the scoop. No big deal, just a change in who writes the paychecks. Still employed, now with an even more financially stable company...and my drive to work takes all of 2 minutes. |

OMG! This must have been leaked from a non-MBA public board!
Its slightly less money than what I was making before, but I took my 401k money from Walgreens and paid off every single one of my debts except the mortgage and now I'm actually holding more money than before. So let's see...you are making less than you were before and you've raped your retirement account (which was probably vastly decreased due to the economy anyway), ensuring that this just cost you several years on your retirement age. Wow, just when you think someone hits rock bottom for stupidity. |

You cashed out your retirement? Seriously?

Congrats CRA. A commute that short.... WALK. Slap on your headset and listen to your favourite Chicago sports talk radio show.
PS: anyone like Weems who can't read, they can watch the movie version:

CRA, don't you worry that if they do let people go you're now one of the first? At least with walgreens you had some kind of seniority.

My 401k was in excellent shape, Powers. Walgreens had many different ways to invest, and the path I took shielded me
from heavy losses. And you're a fool if you think I used every penny that was in there to pay debts without rolling anything over. 95% of what was in
there before is now in a different IRA.
