It actually doesn't make sense to me. Everyone claims that Survivor is going nowhere since it's so cheap to produce, but with its ratings that you all claim to be great, why would its ad price be so low??? Must be close to cancellation if that's all they can rake in... guess advertisers now the cheap fantard audience

Great ratings in overall viewers and in the demos for Survivor last night.

8 p.m.

CBS: "Survivor: Samoa" (13.2 million viewers, 7.7/12 households)
FOX: "Bones" (9.8 million, 6.0/9)
ABC: "FlashForward" (8.3 million, 5.3/8)
NBC: "Community" (5.1 million, 3.3/5)/"Parks and Recreation" (4.7 million, 2.9/4)
The CW: "The Vampire Diaries" (4.5 million, 2.8/4)

18-49 leader: "Survivor: Samoa" (4.0)

Fantastic ratings last night. If this keeps up and the momentum carries over into S20, I think Probst will definitely sign on for more seasons.

Knowing what next season is and who is on it, I don't see how the ratings won't be just as big, if not bigger, than this season has gone to.

Also this was a really good episode for viewers. After the E6 ad hype of RussS, people watched, and I guess they're getting hooked! What a huge jump in ratings!!

I've said it before, but it's so weird how backwards the ratings are. Normally the first two episodes are the highest, then they just go down but it's gone from lower to higher.

Great 18-49 ratings, we're level with The Office on rating and beating them in share. Next week's preview will probably keep the casual viewers interested, too.

I must say, this season has really been a success so far. We'll probably get a bump too in S20, so hopefully there's a flow on effect for S21.

Meanwhile, FlashForward has really failed this season. If they're losing to Bones on what is probably a pretty large budget, something's gotta give.

I hate to say it, but that's true. The shitty thing is that could mean a change in the way the show is produced (aka MOAR IDOLS!) and edited (aka one central character) to be more like this season. A big "no thank you" to that.

FB, let's take into account the fact that Foa Foa lost almost all the pre-merge challenges, which meant that air time was going to be highly skewed in their direction. Who else on Foa Foa were they going to highlight? They have one guy who's calling all the shots, who's making survivor history left and right whether its burning the clothes, finding idols with no clues, or just some of the things he says. How can they NOT show all the shit he's done. They would be fools not to highlight him and promote it.

I don't think every season after this is going to have one polarizing character like Coach/Russell. I don't think Coach was as highlighted as Russell was, I think he was given a normal amount of air time, on par with what Shane got in Exile Island, or Judd got in Guatemala, Jerri in Australia, Lex in Africa etc... It's just this season is so irregular becuase we had a tribe that lost over and over where the majority of them were sheep and one person just so happened to be an overbearing leader.

Coach didn't really start to get excessive airtime until after the merge. I do think/hope Russell's an anomaly though as far as the editing goes; they went overboard with him possibly to justify his spot on S20 or whatever and judging from the comments on Probst's blog it rubbed a lot of viewers the wrong way so hopefully they steer clear of that in the future.

Anyway, according to this article, Survivor is one of four shows in the running for the post-Super Bowl slot next year.

With Russell's repeated confessionals, at least we got some strategy. I hated seeing Coach over and over because he never shut up about iron sharpening iron and how he's the dragonslayer.

I don't think we'll get the post-Super Bowl slot because it makes more sense for CBS to build up the hype for a newer show like Big bang Theory or The Mentalist, to try and make it into a stalwart like Survivor was (and still is to some degree).

I think the earlier ratings being lower were due mostly in part to the big new competition from Flash Forward. Its the first time in a while I can remember that ABC put an actual good competition up against them and the show definately had quite a lot of hype along with it. Now I think the show itself has been quite good so far, but clearly from a ratings perspective it had those good numbers at first and is slowly going further and further down with Survivor's ratings going up most likely because people are going back to it instead of Flash Forward. I would think that many watch Survivor live then catch Flash Forward online later. At least thats what I do. Sucks that Survivor has so much good competition against it this season, but its proving yet again, for the 19th consecutive season that it will beat almost anything that goes against it.
