I know you guys will flame me, but here goes. Imagine the following...


Jeff Probst:
Welcome to the rugged and beautiful mountains of Appalachia (Jeff is high on a mountain top with the sun coming up)!

(Jeff would mention a few things about the history and wildlife of Appalachia, as well as the early settlers and how they had to endure).

For the first time ever, Survivor will take place inside the United States. However, these 18 Americans (shown aboard a private jet) believe they are en route to a tropical island paradise in the Caribbean.
Little do they know that they are about to begin an adventure of a lifetime. For the next 39 days, these 18 strangers must learn to work together while battling the elements and each other. They must learn
to adapt or they will be voted out. In the end only one will remain to claim the million dollar prize.

39 days!
18 people!
1 SURVIOR!!

Introductory Theme:
(Would begin with "Dueling Banjos" from the movie Deliverance, and then would blend in to the traditional Survivor music with a little banjo mixed in.)

(Show starts: the 18 are shown on the private jet.)

Pilot:
Ladies and Gentlemen.
This is your Captain speaking.
We are experiencing a mechanical problem with the aircraft.
There is no reason to be alarmed.
We believe that the problem is minor.
However, to be safe, we are going to land in Charleston WV for a few minutes to check things over.
We ask that you remain seated when we land in Charleston as we expect to be
back in the air shortly.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Please return to your seats and fasten seatbelts.

(A bunch of confessionals.)
(The jet is shown landing in Charleston.)
(Minutes go by.)
(More confessionals.)

Pilot:
Ladies and Gentlemen.
This is your Captain again.
The mechanical problem is more serious than we first thought.
A replacement jet is on its way and should be here in about an hour.
We ask that you go inside the private hangar to your left, and remain inside until the replacement jet arrives.
Your personal effects will be loaded onto the replacement jet when it arrives.
Again, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

(More confessionals.)
(An hour goes by.)
(More confessionals.)
(The replacement jet lands.)
(Jeff Probst exits the craft and enters the hangar.)
(Everyone's excited.)

Jeff (to the 18):
I need you to gather around me.
(Everyone does.)

How's everyone doing?
(He asks various ones to describe how they felt about having to make an emergency landing, etc).

Are you excited and ready to play?
(Everyone is excited.)

Well that's good news, because the game is officially on!
(Surprised faces.)

You will not be boarding a replacement jet.
You will not be headed to an island paradise in the Carribean.
For the first time, the game of Survivor will take place... inside the United States.... not too far from here... in a remote area of the Appalachian mountains.

(He starts handing out buffs.)
When I call out your name, come up and get your buff. But don't put in on yet. We don't want to draw attention.
John, you will be on the Hatfield tribe.

(John receives his buff.)
(Confessional from John.)

Sue, you will be on, no surprise, the McCoy tribe.

(Sue receives her buff.)
(Confessional.)
(Jeff hands out the remaining buffs, alternating between Hatfield and McCoy).

Your belongings are aboard the National Guard truck that you see outside.
You will also board the truck and will be taken to a undisclosed, remote site.
