If you're a true Survivor fan and love strategy, you should be happy the post-merge portion of this season. Russ is stirring up the game and taking risks like never before.. you have to give him props for that. I couldn't care less about his looks or his abrasive personality, I watch this show to be entertained and he's doing a great job of it. I want Natalie to beat him because it will be sweet, sweet justice to have him lose to a "dumbass blonde" who he thinks he carried to the end. That would be the cherry on top of an awesome sundae.

Posts: 242 (11/14/09 3:44 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	The reason I went in knowing I wouldn't like Russel was because I was gun-shy after Coach. Coach was propped up all Tocantins season, yet he played a horrible game. So once they started hyping Russel, I was done. However, after the first few episodes, I was surprised because he just seemed to be trying too hard to wear the villain badge, and his game didn't seem to match all the hype. At that point, I just didn't care about him anymore. Now I am completely entertained by him - I've said in other threads, I may not like him as a person, but he is playing this game hard and I love it. In retrospect, it really is true that he is a good player because he has adapted to circumstances when the game has changed up (even pre-merge). He may not be the most subtle of players, but he is a doer - so while the idiots on Gaulu were on vacation for a day, Russel (as well as the other three Foas) were actually playing survivor. Although I still wonder when Mick will step up, or if he will at all. I am also baffled at why some of those contestants have a fan base here, especially the invisible ones. Laura baffles me too - she's pissed that Russel ain't done playin' yet? Why would she take that personally? Her outraged face made me laugh so hard. Dave was an idiot this past episode, but at least his (also hilarious) reaction at TC was more appropriate. I had hopes for Dave, but Oh Well. Now I just want one of the Foa Four to win (except Mick). Out of the four, I think Russel has played the best game so far and I would be happy if he won.

He's a nice guy but for all the hate Jaison gets, Mick is a million times more laidback regarding the game. I still believe it was his lack of leadership that caused Foa Foa to lose so many challenges. I think Russell S was Galu's greatest advantage. Laura's reaction made me laugh too, it was so ridiculous. Did she expect Russell to just roll over and die? She reminds me of Corinne.. This season is different from postmerge Tocantins in that the minority tribe was still screwed after the initial blindside. If the Timbits had actually stuck together after Brendan got booted, I guarantee his idol would've been rehidden to give the Jalapao underdogs a helping hand, and we would be bitching about a Jalapao rigged season instead of Timbira's idiocy. But the Timbits were already butchering themselves, so the idol didn't need to be replaced, because the "underdogs" were already in charge. In Samoa, unlike everyone having boners for JT, Russell burnt all his bridges, and the uber evil underdog hero-villain needed his ass saved. That idol was meant for Russell, and Russell only. Galu could only confirm there was an idol replaced when almost all of them went out on reward and got the clue, giving Russell the huge headstart he needed to find it first. I don't blame Russell for taking advantage of rigging, but there damn sure is rigging, and since he primarily benefits from it, he gets the hate that comes with it.

Do I think that deserves a win? Not necessarily. I look at the whole big picture. He is playing ONE of the best games, but so are a few others. I just don't get all the credit. Even HE gives himself all the credit. He claims he orchestrated the Betsy boot. Liz said within five minutes of that episode Betsy or Mike would be the next to go because they were liabilities. So he really didn't do shit. Indeed. Fans of the Survivor get a hell of a lot of slack around here. When Rob C, Cirie or Russell does something, it's called genius. When Earl, Parvati or Boston Rob did something, they recieved no praise.

He's playing the game really well and always seems to be enjoying himself while some other people just bitch and moan about the weather. Contestants like Russell have been a rarity for quite some time. You've just can't help but give the man props at this point.
