I agree about Kevin's dish (and the fact that chicken wings were pushing the limit for NY). I am sure Wholefoods had some type of seafood that Kevin could have used which could have better related to a "tropical" dish. And like Drew said, or at the very least he could have made a tropical type of sauce or garnish. Instead of tomato water, why not coconut water? He could have added tropical fruit like mango or papaya or pineapple.

The Mirage is a tropical-themed resort and Kevin completely disregarded it. And I think he had done this in the past where he did what he wanted and didn't follow the theme of the challenge. Didn't he get questioned on this before in judging? But because his dish tasted really good, the judges gave him a pass?

The judging annoys me, because Tom gets on his high horse and makes statements in his blogs to justify boots saying they judge only on the dish in front of them or the challenge wasn't followed, yet they do not follow what they claim are their juding criteria. It seems to change from week-to-week depending on who is on the chopping block. That's my frustration. Just admit that they judge by whatever the hell criteria they want to and that they do play favorites at times. It's denying the obvious that gets me annoyed.
