She's definitely flakey. I think it's part of the reason I like so much. I identify.

If not for BB, Lydia would have no life since it is consumed now with the show she lost. Her friends are all BB related too , so we know she had none before,
no BFs either. Her obsession with getting twits to write her for gifts from her is pretty pathetic to me, if she didnt have them I guess she'd just be
cutting away.

I always wondered what Lydia's friends were like. Because she seems to have a strong/emotional personality so I wondered if her friends were the same or if
they were surprised by how she acted. But I swear the only people I remember discussing their friends a lot in the house were Casey, Jeff, Jordan, Laura, and
Chima.

AllieBuck wrote:That is an insightful observation about mentioning their friends...the only people in the house that I was able to relate to in some way were Casey, Jeff, Jordan, Laura, and Chima. (yes, Chima too) I'd actually add Kevin to that list, though he didn't talk about his friends. Those were the only ones that came across as 'warm' people to me and not completely self-involved. (yes, Chima too) And speaking of Lydia, she has so many characteristics that remind me of my former best friend. We were friends since birth (truly...by a matter of months, our moms were BFFs), but a couple years ago, at age 25, I had to part ways with her....the selfishness, the constant cry for attention, the falling in love with unhealthy guys, the acting out in ridiculous ways, the woe is me mentality, the pseudo independent attitude, etc etc -- it wore thin and I had to get over it. When she moved away to LA (ahem), I visited a few times and then just cut off contact. Life is too short for such drama. God, my friend even did that same stupid baby voice Lydia did around guys she was attracted to. Repulsive. It drove me nuts.

Someone should write a psychology dissertation on that baby voice that people like Lydia use on their men. I"m no psychologist, but it strikes me as
manipulative, enmeshed, and loaded with regressive mommy/daddy issues.
PLUS it makes my skin curdle. |

katied, I have a friend exactly like that. I moved so she's not in my life daily but she damn near wore me out before I got away. Always crying, "Why
meeeeeeee?" Well, here's a big hint. It's always you because you're always about you.

She is too desperate acting, the posting to every fan and her addy for attention seems sad to me. She is obsessed with thinking she's famous, she is not
bright at all and is a follower in reality.

Well, her fans are not helping when they go on radio interviews telling her that they will all chip in $$$ so she can open her own art gallery. She said all
she'd need is $8K. Maybe she's schmoozing for the bucks.

her own art gallery? this is too funny, I studied fine arts so I will love following this shit.

Well, you'd especially want to follow this shit then Snakey. She wants to be able to have a place to highlight up & coming artists. To give them a
place to start, like herself. It sounds like a good idea but to rely on fans for $$$? I don't know about that.

Art, schmart... I don't know anything about art. I wouldn't call what Lydia does fine art -- it' more folk art. But I like it. I think she is very
creative, and I think she could have moderate success (maybe more, I dunno), but I don't think she should rely on fans for $$. That does not show any real
commitment to her "art."

When the fan brought up the "everyone chip in a buck" idea, I don't recall her encouraging it. I think she just kind of laughed.

Yeah, but when he asked how much she'd need she didn't hesitate to tell him about 8K. That's a pretty low-ball figure though.
Well, maybe she did hesitate for about a second but then she told him. |

Fluffynurse wrote: She was very quick to throw out that $8K figure, I heard that interview...what would that accomplish for independent artists? What would that really accomplish for ONE independent artist? I'd like to see her business plan. Screw that. You guys, donate $4K to me (I'm 50% off!) and I'll make fancypants bows out of ribbon and a hot glue gun...and open an art gallery...or something. Blergh. She should create something awesome and fans and others will buy it...from there she can open her gallery. No offense to Lydia, but I'd rather donate my dollar to my own community in the meantime. I've also been known to buy some indie art here and there from etsy.com I don't doubt that the girl has artistic abilities and is creative, but there is no way she's business savvy...she can do it on her own funds. Also, I just put myself on a budget. |

Fluffynurse wrote:Most galleries try to find the up and comers, it's how they make a living and pushing unknowns is profitable too. Of course they have to have what it takes and gallery owners know who does and doesnt. I dont know why you'd ask strangers for cash, unless a binding legal contract is drawn up, otherwise it's like a child setting up a lemonade stand.
