That is an insightful observation about mentioning their friends...the only people in the house that I was able to relate to in some way were Casey, Jeff, Jordan, Laura, and Chima. (yes, Chima too) I'd actually add Kevin to that list, though he didn't talk about his friends. Those were the only ones that came across as 'warm' people to me and not completely self-involved. (yes, Chima too)

And speaking of Lydia, she has so many characteristics that remind me of my former best friend. We were friends since birth (truly...by a matter of months, our moms were BFFs), but a couple years ago, at age 25, I had to part ways with her....the selfishness, the constant cry for attention, the falling in love with unhealthy guys, the acting out in ridiculous ways, the woe is me mentality, the pseudo independent attitude, etc etc -- it wore thin and I had to get over it. When she moved away to LA (ahem), I visited a few times and then just cut off contact. Life is too short for such drama. God, my friend even did that same stupid baby voice Lydia did around guys she was attracted to. Repulsive. It drove me nuts.
