OK, I can't read this thread because I have to wait for it to come on network TV, but I thought I'd pass along that I saw Matt Saracen at the Bulls
game Saturday night. He was sitting in one of the floor seats, but I'm embarassed to admit I didn't recognize him. What a cutie though. He looked so
young.

Ferfucksake. No posts about last nights awesome eppy??
Ok, I'll go first. I can't believe I ever disliked Buddy in previous seasons. He was fantastic last night, getting all fired up when he heard them trash talking Tammy, then telling them all to go fuck themselves. I especially liked how he made the point about how they used to all be friends, and great Panther supporters, until the cancer that is JD came to town. Sweetness. I'm already kind of over the Saracen and the asshole artist storyline. Matt should have gone off to art school. I suppose if the aforementioned spoiler is true it will add some interesting drama. Loved the football team playing better, but still not being very good. I thought it was very believable. Well, up to the part where someone who never kicked a ball before kicked a field goal. But I'll go with it, b/c it was a good ending. And I love that even when Coach is being nice to a player, like his talk with Luke at the farm, he still is kind of a prick. He's a great coach. And I also love the tension between Luke and Vince. They can squeeze some good stuff out of that, but ultimately, they'll probably become friends, b/c they want the same thing - to win games. Another awesome ep, imo. I love this show. Anyone know how many eps we get this season? |

Okay, I'm confused. After the interception shouldn't the Lions have had a new set of downs? They weren't that far from the endzone at that point
so why the rush to kick a field goal?
Other than Buddy's break with the Panther Boosters, the atmosphere in the Lions locker room when they discovered their new uniforms, and the East Dillion principal in the bleachers for the game, there wasn't much about this episode that was very hopeful. I'm pulling for some kind of positive storyline to come along soon. All this tension and adversity is bringing me down, man. Based on the previews for next week it looks like very soon Matt won't have any reason that he has to stay around Dillon. So maybe he's a short story arc this season kind of like what they did with Street and Smash last year? I agree with BBB's assessment of the Matt/Asshole Artist storyline. I'm about done with it. |

Yes, the Lions had a new set of downs but the game clock was running down and they wanted to get some points on the board. That is why they tried to kick a
field goal.
Matt Saracen is going to be leaving the show soon. I believe that he will be going to the art school in Chicago that was mentioned last season. This is why he is listed as a guest star this season and not a regular cast member. Remember, Smash and Street were listed as guest stars last season also. I'm really enjoying this season so far. I can't wait for the inevitable blowup between Coach and J.D. McCoy over McCoy's treatment of Tami. |

Another good episode!
I love the turmoil (and powerful performance) of Coach Taylor going through everything for his new team. The fact that it was a "joke" and he wasn't supposed to take the job - and someone told him that this episode, and it only pushed him harder! Same for Tammy's turmoil of getting treated like shit by everyone in town and trying to be the supporting wife as well. The fight scene between Coach and Tammy. Another great scene for these two. They are both going through a hell of their own. I like how she stood up to him not coming home and yelling at her.. and him realizing it and apologizing. Its not like he wants to be shitty to her. I feel their stress and its awesome! Julie is also on her own journey. She is at a time in her life where she is questioning everything. It will be sad to see her and Matt part ways.. but it is necessary. Tptb are setting it up nicely... I almost have peace with it - well before it happens. Tammy and Julie's relationship is great! I love how Tammy is a great mother to her. Their bond is heartwarming to watch. Coach's line to Buddy was awesome "you might want to polish that ring, its looking a little tarnished"! LOVE LOVE LOVE that Buddy finally stood up and as someone else pointed out - he linked all the troubles back to JD MCCOY! I hope some of the others also decide to help the Lions. Landry trying to be a punter now. He really hasn't found a good spot for himself. I like that they move him around so much. Love the girl helping him learn how to punt. Cute story. Luke and Vince's story is awesome! I can't wait till these two work as a team. This is when they will start winning games. JMO! I adored the scene where they got their uniforms. It was like Christmas morning and it made my eyes well up and my heart go pitter pat. So glad Friday Night Lights is back! Not really digging the shitty artist, the girl stalking Riggins, or the asshole (that used to be on the team) pushing Vince to blow off Coach Taylor. These stories can't be gone soon enough.

You don't tug on Superman's cape You don't spit into the wind You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger And you don't lie to Tami, da do da do... My goodness this season is on fire! Any complaints I had about the season 2 murder mystery are now water under the bridge. When Coach lied to Tami about the check, I was all ohnoes, you're going to get your ass kicked. In true FNL style, I loved the silky resolution. This is the best TV couple in the history of broadcasting. Yeah, the whole tortured artist Saracen plot sucks. I've not read the spoilers, but based on the preview, it looks like Grandma Saracen is taking a dirt nap next week, so hopefully that'll put an end to it. You know what Vince needs? A little sitdown with Smash. Agreeance on how fully Buddy's character has developed. Remember him in season 1 pushing Voodoo on Coach and referring the QB1 as little Matt Saracen? Compare & contrast. ETA: funniest moment in recent FNL? Luke teasing Riggins about the floozy bartendress's daughter.

^^^ That would be awesome!! We need Mama Smash to come back to the show. Isn't she a nurse? Maybe Vince's mama ends up in the hospital & Mama
Smash is there showing her disdain but realizing she has an opportunity to help another football mom w/ her great advice.

Another great episode. I am loving Buddy's transformation... he is really helping Coach transition into his role. HATE HATE HATE the fact that Tammy is
taking all the blame for Luke having to transfer to East Dillon. Dang that Superintendent is a wuss!!!! I am over the daughter (can't remember her name...
Riggins lives on the property??)... too damn needy! Did the daddy of Landry's love interest used to be on a lawyer show w/ Dylan McDermott??? He looks
really familiar.

Great episode and classic FNL. IMO this is the kind of show they do best.
I actually finally enjoyed the scenes with the daughter of Riggin's landlord. She's bugged me up until this episode but the scene with her and Riggins in the dress shop was so sweet. It was nice to see that side of Riggins again. And just in time for a Lila visit next week. I was sure that Grandma was the one that Julie's tears were over in the preview they showed last week. Never even occurred to me that it could be Matt's dad. But Matt admitting he stayed in Dillon for Jules and then the shot of Matt's mom taking care of Grandma while Matt was hunting pretty much cleared up the situation there. Matt needs to go to college. Hope his loss will convince him that he needs to pursue his dreams. |

Loved Buddy saving the day. I'm digging his character more and more.
Luke's Panther friends were such bitches. I really can't stand that little bastard JD or whatever the QB's name is. Wait....JD's the dad, right? Wtf is the kid's name? I'm having a brain freeze right now. Anyway, it was hilarious how they pulled out of there so quick. Nice Escalade he was driving, huh? Must be nice to be the only child of the richest man in town. I still don't like the landlord's daughter. So bratty and self centered. Much like every teenage girl, I guess. But the actress really could take it down a notch, imo. The husband pointed something out last night.....she looks exactly like Tyra with a brown curly wig. Check it out....she really does! |
