I was under the impression that Kevin is being given a shot to compete against other U.S. chefs for the ONE spot to represent the U.S. in the International Bocuse d'Or. Basically, Kevin will be competing in the Miss USA pageant in the hopes of winning the title and competing in the Miss Universe pageant. And another comment regarding Kevin's appearance. His beard grosses me out, but I have eventually gotten over it and tried to overlook it, in light of his obvious talents as a chef. HOWEVER, when they showed the previews to the finale I see Kevin show up with not only that mangy beard, but with longer and extremely unruly hair. I'm sorry, but Kevin is really pushing the limits of what I can take. He looks like a sasquatch with all that hair and I do not like the thought of sasquatch cooking my food.

I'm not sure that as a new restaurant owner he can spare the months away from his usual life if her manages to win the spot, but I suppose you do what you have to if you have big dreams. Bryan certainly is being shown in a much more positive light now - or, maybe more accurately, human. He would be a good winner, as would Kevin. I don't think Jennifer has a shot in hell at this point, and I don't think we'd be seeing Michael quite this dickish if he'd won.

It's the only season where the top 4 were the winners of all elimination challenges. Elimination Challenges Bryan: Win (3); Top (4); Bottom (0); Middle (4); Safe (1) Jen: Win (1); Top (4); Bottom (3); Middle (3); Safe (1) Kevin: Win (5); Top (3); Bottom (1); Middle (2); Safe (1 - didn't have to cook one week since he won the quickfire) Michael: Win (3); Top (6); Bottom (1); Middle (1); Safe (1) don't know who was top or bottom this week

Gail called him out on it and no one seemed to follow up on it. He showed ZERO special techniques and therefore should have been eliminated for not following the rules of the challenge. If only Lisa was on this season. She'd have called Kevin's ass out for not following rules and basically force the producers to boot Kevin, like she did to Andrew.

Posts: 918 (11/19/09 1:18 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Bryan wins even though he's been rather meh all season (Although he has won 3 elim challenges, but other than that he hasn't won any quickfires or wasn't top 3 much anytime he didn't win. Bryan is the only one left who has never been in the bottom. Michael and Kevin landed there once and Jen, twice. Based on the judges comments, I think if Bryan's meat wasn't under cooked, he would have won this challenge. They thought Kevin's dish was too simplistic, but it was the lesser of five evils - if you will.

Online and they have clarified it as an OOPS moment (but as it may still be in play, I will put it in spoiler tabs): Spoiler [+] When we told you a couple weeks back that we had reason to believe that a front-runner (Jen, Kevin, Mike V. or Bryan) went home early, that reason was because someone from our team ran into "the red-haired guy from Top Chef" (aka Kevin Gillespie) while our friend was shopping for engagement rings in downtown L.A. The chef in question told our friend, "I got kicked off before the end." Well, as you saw last night, Kevin won the final Vegas challenge and sailed safely into the finale, along with fellow obvious finalists Jen Carroll and the Volt bros. (FYI, this encounter happened in mid-October, which we believe to be before Kevin went north to shoot the finale in Napa, so don't sue us if Kevin doesn't make it into the final three and you feel spoiled. In that case, it's just a coincidence and we're not liable, darn it!)

I thought the article said that one of the apparent final four doesn't make the final four, so I thought either last week or this week we were going to lose one of the Volts/Kevin/Jen. It's kind of stupid to say that it is shocking that one of the FOUR doesn't make the final challenge, because obviously one has to go for the final 3 battle for the win. At this point, there is no "shocking boot," because these were the best four this season, they made it to the final 4 and now it's anyone's game. They all get to rest up and prepare for the finale, so no matter who is booted it won't be a shock. One of the four isn't going to be as impressive as the final 3 and that person is booted.

I wonder if someone found some of his red fur in their food Seriously, though I was REALLY hoping it was Michael that was booted. I did not want both Volts in the final challenge, but I guess it was inevitable so they had a storyline going with those two. Now I am just hoping that Jen somehow gets Kevin as one of her sous chefs and PLEASE LET MICHAEL GET STUCK WITH ROBIN!! That would be awesome. If Jen can get Kevin or even loudmouth Mike as her sous chef, she can pull this off. I expect her to come back well-rested and de-stressed and ready to kick some reVOLTing ass. Jennifer FTW (or Bryan is acceptable).

Michael has proven he's not perfect more than once and cannot take criticism which could be very detrimental to him, Bryan knows that any small mistake at this point could get him tossed, Jen has proven she's sporadic and Kevin has that simple thing hanging over his head.

It's "complicated" and "intricate" and they better love that crap, because it shows all of your techniques, and the rubes better damn well appreciate that, and ignore the fact that it's over priced bad food.
