Honey, I studied satire. I write satire. Satire does not equal uneven. In fact, satire usually does not have the human element Glee has. I actually love the human element in the show, so long as it does not get too soap opera or heavy-handed (which it has flirted with a few times of late). My big problem is that it goes from this crazy crush and Finn singing to a sonogram (satire) to a balls-out sad and dramtic (almost melodramatic) scene without even bothering to switch gears slowly.

And my one big "Huh" last night is that a student ended up in the hospital and in therapy because of a crush on a teacher, and the guidance counsellor has no clue who she is? They made it seem the whole scenario had been years before, then Susie Pepper shows up out of nowhere. I like the idea of Susie Pepper. I didn't mind what actually happened. It just made very little sense, even by the loopy logic the show set out for itself.

Kurt and Dad. That one was tackled with humor AND heart. Nice mix of the two
Enlarging our view of Sue Sylvester. It was heavy-handed and lacking in "Sue-"ness at the end of the last show, yet it was nice to know a bit more.
Seeing more of the parents, especially Finn's mom and Kurt's Dad.
The idea of having music literally speak the character's minds... with dubbed "thoughts." This is the kind of satirical cheese that can be fun.
