I've heard that you can build a pretty nice shelter just using them.

Jiffy was talking about it too. Clearly they never retired this shitty concept.

Lets see:
Theyve only done it once, in Marquesas....so....15 seasons later, why are they even worrying about it? |

I wish they were consistent with the rules. It's been a firebuilding challenge for so many seasons now.

If the show is so rigged in Russell's favor, then why did they revert back to rocks where he stands a chance of getting booted as opposed to fire making
which only affect the the two votees with Russel probably winning in that situation?

Firemaking is only at the final 4, anything else is rocks. Cirie confirmed this in Micro. |

Rocks are part of the Survivor rulebook, which is why they've been brought up in Vanuatu, Palau, Micronesia and now this season..
Kathy posted it while she was here. |

Fire-building is only the tie-breaker when it's down to four people or fewer for whatever reason.
Drawing rocks has been in the rulebook for years, just never utilized. In Palau, if Steph hadn't changed her vote to Angie, it would have gone to rocks. yw |

Thank god we finally have confirmation of this rule. The constant nitpicking over "but where's your proof of the PROD, hmm?!" got so
tiring, especially after it was mentioned on the show by savvy players time and time again. This is as direct as we're going to get, because we're
unlikely to find a group of players larger than 4 that are all willing to put their asses on the line for a random draw. It's directly stated by a player
as the rule of the game, and narrated in a rehearsed enough manner that it's pretty clear it was carefully explained to him and he was coached in his
articulation. And we even have Probst talking about it.
What we've pretty much known to be the case all these years is official, and everyone can stop bitching. For ties in groups larger than 4, the PROD stands. I don't like it (because it so discourages and scares players away from ties) and I wish the producers still used past votes, but it's better than having every tie vote determined by fire-making or any other arbitrary survival skill. |

They haven't used that since Africa.

I WISH they had picked rocks last night.
The only thing I don't like is that the two people who received the tied votes get immunity. That's just stupid. Everybody except the immunity challenge winner should pick a rock... Although, if both Laura and Natalie were immune and guaranteed to move on to the next episode, that would have made me really happy. |

The second vote was going to break the tie no matter who "switched" because you then have 3 people (BJ and Angie excluded) voting for 1 of 2 people. However, when Ulong was at 4, if Steph had not switched her vote to James, we would have had fire. Rocks can only happen when there's 6, 8, 10, or (in this season) 12. That's the only way a vote can be deadlocked. |

I'd say that the rock rule has worked pretty well. It's punishment for creating tie votes... and what do you know, it's been a very effective
incentive so far. I mean, I wish they would go back to the "most previous votes" rule because that added another layer of strategy to the game, but
avoiding ties altogether is the next best thing. And sure, the occasional fire-making challenge is entertaining, but how many times can you watch retards fail
to make fire (ala Becky and Sandra) before you slit your fucking wrists?

Considering that we are almost certainly in for a double-boot (to make up for the person who didn't get booted when black Russell was taken out), Jeff
should've just said "OK, it's a tie, so you're both gone!"
