Thanks for posting the linky, Christy. Looks like this week is going to be a really good episode.

If they kill of Jo and/or Ellen, I swear....I am so sick of them blatantly killing off cool female characters in this show.

As you can imagine, I'm fucking pissed. Their deaths were pointless, and waiting through commercials just to see them burn the picture in the fire was
truly a waste of my time. They did not explain why/how Dean/Sam just LEFT Lucifer? And didn't even show angel of Death? Lame Supernatural, LAME. And no new
episodes until JANUARY 21?!?! You have got to be kidding me. The CW has such a hardon for the crap known as the Vampire Diaries that they are just blatantly
sabotaging all their other shows in the process. Fuck you Supernatural, and fuck you also, CW.

omg I LOVE the actor that is playing Crowley.
And, for what it is worth, Crowley was the major demon in Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet. coda: it is the final season, I wold be disappointed if people DIDN'T die. Jeez. Suck it up. |

But the point is it's every female character that's ever prominent that dies. Guys never do. It's sexist and annoying. I've accepted it, but
don't tell me to suck it up. It was a shitty episode, and even though I love this series, at least I can admit it. I don't care if it's the last
season or not, either--they sucked with plot holes in this episode, and that is something Supernatural hardly ever fucks up...I am allowed to be pissed.

Suck it up, bitch tits.
This show isn't about THE GIRLS. It is about the Winchesters, the Devil and God. It is about Good vs Evil and all the grey areas inbetween. Plot holes happen and, quite frankly, I think you are acting like a mincing little poodle about it. |

Yeah you can't go running around killing off your leads. They did kil Daddy Winchester though.
I agree with you about the ending -- WTF happened in between the horseman rising and them buring the pic? How'd they get out Carthage? I was SO disappointed to see the Colt come back and immediately go back out of play. You'd think Cas would've known whether or not it would work. Did Meg get killed by leaving the circle? |

Castiel got them out of Carthage

And we're supposed to just assume that Castiel got them out...and Arctic, everyone is titled to their own opinion. I'm not saying they should just go
and kill off dean and sam (i mean they've done it enough through the series) but I think you all would be crying foul if Castiel or Bobby bit the dust
tonight. All I'm saying is it's just too often that the women get killed off in this show--very Heroes-esque IMO. It doesn't derail from the show,
and it makes sense, it's just frustrating. I totally get it's about Sam and Dean, the boys, yadda yadda, but it is getting old (OMG this girl is
getting too close to the boys so she dies) whether you want to admit it or not. And don't use Ruby as an excuse...as far as I'm concerned, Ruby died in
season 3. That new actress was NOT Ruby.

See, I like that they ditch the chicks. A major romance would destroy the entire show. It would get in the way of the storyline and be a major waste of time
(ala Leonard and Penny).
This show isn't about advancing women in television, there are other shows for that. This show has been and always will be about the boys. Getting frustrated with women coming and going is really just a waste of energy. |

I loved the ep! I dont understand why they burned the picture though. It was the last time they were all together and should have become a part of the massive
shit piles that Bobby has laying around at his house.
I never understood it but supposedly Jo wasn't a fan favorite (not for me, I loved her). Lots of fans wanted her no where near Dean. I liked how they had them kiss. It showed that they cared about each other. Her shutting him down on the last night on earth stuff was LOL funny! I bet she is regretting that shit.. I know I would be. The ending seemed typical to me. They always beam out of trouble - with the big white light - and when we come back (on January 21st) it will show what all happened. Or at least talk about it. Loved the look on Lucifer's face as he turned around and watched them beam out. Sucks the colt wont work. We're gonna need to retool it and fix it so it does. I'm happy with this season (thus far). If its the last season, it appears its gonna go out on a high - for me. |

Haven't watched the ep yet, I usually reserve it for my Friday night viewing, but I had to peek in here to see what was up.
I'm shocked that Coda is so upset about Jo & Ellen being killed off. As for the Colt, I for one am THRILLED that it won't work against Lucifer (or at least that's what I gather from the comments in here). When the Colt came back into play last week I was getting ready to start bitching if the writers decided the Colt would be able to take down Lucifer. That would be WAY TOO EASY. I am so glad they did not go that route. Can't wait to watch the episode tonight. |

I'm with Coda on this - I'm furious that Jo and Ellen died. They weren't vital, they hadn't been around in ages - I think those explanations
are minimalizing. Yes, the show's about the brothers, but aren't they tragic figures enough without adding more female death, without more recurring
characters dying? Ellen (and Jo) serve/d a purpose in letting the boys have a pseudo-family structure and support system, a history within hunting, people
that they valued, but never infringed on the main focus of the show, particularly after fandom's panty-twisting in season two; Dean and Jo were never a
major romance that would have derailed the main theme. Ellen is probably the one female character that fandom universally liked - why would Kripke stop
pandering to them now and kill her specifically? And when did Dean get to the point that he's so willing for others to sacrifice themselves for him? He
generally doesn't even let redshirts be cannon fodder for his battles - it seems out of character that he would let even a dying Jo take one for the team.
What, she's dying anyway, might as well let her go out in a blaze of glory? That's not who he is, is it?
I'm also annoyed that the apocalypse plot seems to be pointlessly wandering and full of more holes than usual. If Lucifer isn't in his proper vessel (Sam), why is he still as powerful as he is? If there's no real difference other than burning out bodies faster, then what's the point in needing Sam to accept him? Why won't Sam just stop being stubborn and selfish and admit sometimes that maybe it's not best for him to go straight to where Lucifer is and give himself to Lucifer on a platter; maybe let Dean go take a shot at him first before just getting easily caught then standing there looking pained, emotionally tortured and stupid? Grrr. Hopefully I've just completely missed an episode or key point or something that I can go rewatch that will make me stop wishing that someone would just go up to Sam and put a bullet in his head. There. Apocalypse problem solved. |

I hate to admit it, but I t.eared up when the gals bit the dust. I think there will be many more brave, unselfish deaths in episodes to come. It's just
the progression of the show.

This is a war that is going on and all hunters are soldiers, so it's obvious that hunters have to die in battle. If everyone always survived there would
be no drama and nothing emotional to get bummed out about. Almost every other hunter that Sam & Dean come across have died, so why should Jo & Ellen
be any different?
I look forward to watching the episode tonight and I'm sure I'll be like Mmmadcow and get choked up about Jo & Ellen, but they have to serve some purpose in this show and dying heroically in battle is a great way to go and actually have an impact. ETA: Hell, even Sam & Dean have both died. The only reason they are alive (other than the show is about them) is because they are a part of the bigger picture of the apocolypse and are both fated to become vessels. Hunters die on this show. Deal with it.

Well I think the complaint is that the show is being misogynist and killing off only the chicks. At least killing them for keeps.
(Anybody else giggle at Dean's I've died a couple times thinking of Buffy's Once More With Feeling line of "hey I've died twice"? ) At least here, Jo and Ellen died heroic, hunter-worthy deaths. That's probably about as good as you can get in this universe. I missed Castiel and the white flash on first viewing -- after escaping the circle of fire over Meg's hopefully dying body, he snuck up on the boys, did a shhh sign, and a white flash is reflected on Lucifer's vessel's face. That's WAY too easy. Distracted or not, there's no way the SOB would let his perfect vessel escape like that. Oh well, I guess there's always Detroit. The more I think about it, this was not a particularly good ep. |

I feel the misogyny complaints are really weak. In the larger scope of this show pretty much EVERYONE dies, men and women. We're dealing with demons,
possession, satan, ghosts, witches, basically every imaginable evil being out there.
This show is about Sam & Dean, so they are the only two that have to somehow survive each encounter. Everyone else is fair game. On the other side of the misogyny argument, I feel that at least all the major female roles on this show are strong roles, they are not whiny victims who need saving by Sam & Dean. If anything, this show is promoting tough, strong and independent women (until their eventual demise, of course). |

I don't have a dog in the fight, but yeah, the chicks in this show are never Perils of Penelope types. Even when they are cute zombies who still manage to
beat up Sam.
BTW, I wiki'd the Battle of Carthage, never having heard of it before. As they said back then, no battle was minor if you fought in it, but this conflict was no Antietam: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Carthage_%281861%29 |
