Well that was a mess. They were setting it up so that Oscar would get his chance to speak out and end up saving the company, but the entire story just fizzled
out without any resolution, and we're left seriously wondering how they can write it so that DM doesn't collapse. Michael runs out of the hotel taking
Dwight and Andy with him, but in the end bumper we see the conference reconvened (sans Michael) with Dwight and Andy still there. And apparently Dwight
considers Earth Day to be held at random times during the year since this episode is in late fall and that one receptionist filled in for Pam over last summer.
And why would the filming crew sit on five years' worth of Recyclops footage only to reveal it now?

Loved Orphan Erin's line

The guys in the limo ride were cute.
I had a couple of lols but I can't remember what they were for. Recyclops was dumb. |

That was definitely among the worst cold openings. I did not find Recyclops at all amusing.
I enjoyed the DMI press conference, though. David Wallace should have known better than putting Michael in front of a microphone. He should have warned the old crotchety CEO. I was almost holding my breath in anticipation for Oscar to say his peace to the board. I like this plot and I hope Oscar does finally speak his mind and help Dunder Mifflin dig itself out of financial ruin. Best part of the episode was Jim putting Ryan in the closet. The lack of continuity didn't bother me. When they flashed back to Dwight's question to the board, I just tried to justify it by thinking that Michael left the hotel suite and caught up with Oscar and told him they would leave early. Dwight was still waiting in his line wanting to ask his question when they reconvened, so Michael waited for Dwight to ask his question and then they all bolted before the second session was finished. Since I love this show so much, I don't nitpick. *shrugs* And Steve Carrell is just amazing with his expressions. The look on his face when he was sitting on that stage, proud & elated; then quickly turning to dejectment and confusion when he realized that he was sitting before an angry mob. Perfection. |

Well the obvious reason the cold opening was so bad was because it was NBC forcing their shows to include a "green subplot" for green week.
I enjoyed most of the rest of the episode, but disappointed that Oscar didn't speak his mind. Maybe that would've been a little too FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Loved the Jim vs. Ryan subplot. Much needed and was a nice callback to when Ryan "flexed" his power over Jim some seasons ago. |

And it nicely continues the series-long dynamic of Jim slowly becoming Michael - not that that Ryan is Jim, but once upon a time Jim was the one finding more
interesting things to do with his time, such as forcing Dwight to buy back his possessions from the vending machine.

The shareholder meeting fell apart quite quickly.
Michael's announcing a fictional recovery plan to gathered investors was a worse violation of securities laws than anything we saw Ryan do. |

I liked the episode and I like that the show is mirroring real issues in our country today. I like that they didn't correct it really quickly and move on
to another story. It feels like a real problem and I will be glad when they find a solution. I would have loved it if Oscar gave them his two cents and it
actually turned out to be a great plan that helped save the company. I guess it was more realistic that 15mins isn't enough time to come up with a plan
that will save a company with such troubles. Loved Jim putting Ryan in his new office.
This wasn't a completely funny episode but I still enjoyed watching it. |

The thought the episode was edited exceptionally well between the A and B stories. I was kind of on the edge of my seat with what would happen in each one. But
that said, it wasn't the funniest episode. Good though.

But on the other hand... they did bring Roni back for the flashback

But, in terms of the spirit of the law, Jim could have fairly easily announced some phony plot, such as: every board member to take a 50 percent salary cut. That would have solved almost everything..

This is kind of funny considering a couple episodes back the entire office played a clue-ish dinner murder game (I do declayare). How is the answer not always Dwight in the break room with his deadly fists? $29.72. |

Antithesys wrote:LOVED the trivia quiz. Thanks for posting, Anti. The first time I ran out of time and only got 85 right answers, so I did it again and was able to answer all before time ran out. Got quite a few chuckles out of it as I recalled the context of the quotes. And I am so going to buy The Office version of Clue. |
