LOL. Lavin doesn't annoy me that much in comparison to a lot of other ESPN announcers, but maybe I'd feel differently if Brian Butch was still at
Wisconsin and every other word out of his mouth in Big Ten games was about the POLAR BEAR.

Looks like a few top teams may not deserve their rankings.

All I can say is PHEW.
I think we needed a close game, shows what we need to work on (passing, offense in general) and shows the team they aren't unbeatable and will not be able to just show up and beat teams that have pulses. |

This marathon is wild crazy. St Peters Monmouth 6 AM? And the first basket was scored by a player named Bacon.

If you like that, you'll love the fact that Texas couldn't break 80 against Western Carolina.
Before anybody even suggests bias on my part, I expect UNC to take some serious lumps early this season (facing five ranked teams in their next eight games), but from what I've witnessed so far, NONE of the top 10 teams are all that impressive. They're either barely escaping losses to undeservedly unranked schools, or underperforming against teams who have never seen the inside of a gym that holds more than 5,000 spectators. Tomorrow's UNC/tOSU game should be interesting. |

Hah.
The Pac Ten may be truly sucking this year. Not like that's a bad thing. Didn't UCLA already lose to some no-name? Overrated. |

And I realize that Harry may be able to say the same to me tomorrow night, but still . . . ;)

Forgetting the first five minutes or so, Syracuse did look pretty impressive.

This is ugly basketball. Ugly ugly.
Speaking of which, how old is that Lauderdale dude? Is he related to Greg Oden? |

But Gonzaga wasn't ranked.
I can't give anybody a pass after that Syracuse game. They've come on strong since that exhibition loss to LE MOYNE, and look like they could beat anybody in the country. Probably the most underrated team in the top 25, they should be ranked in the top 10. Kentucky is a prime example of how bad the rankings are this year. They barely beat Miami (of Ohio), and only managed a 10 point win over Sam Houston. Their non-conference strength of schedule is pathetic, yet they're in the top 5. And look at Villanova, ekeing out a one-point win over George Mason. One lucky three pointer kept them from falling about 10 spots. Either the Parity Fairy has been pulling overtime, or the pollsters need to take a hard look at what's really going on. |

I knew you'd bring up the non ranking. It's still a national program.

Of course I brought up the non-ranking. I'm bitching about the rankings.

Their "pathetic" non-conference schedule does include UNC, UCONN and Louisville coming up though, and that ain't bad. Besides, this is a team that has five freshmen, three of which start, a new coach and a new system. I'm as big a UK fan as anyone, but no way I expected them to be world beaters from day one. All I care about is that they peak come SEC Tournament time. |

Mixed day for this SU fan. Good win, but it really sucked losing Tobias Harris to a football school.

Congrats James. The 'Cuse looked like they were in late season form tonight.
Those were two impressive games. |
