It would have been so easy for her to save herself and vote for Laura with the Foa Foa members. But she didn't and stayed loyal and even tried her hardest to save Laura. She was willing to pick the purple rock for Laura. I got to respect that.

This plan is a perfect example. She just thought she'd lie to Foa Foa and they'd believe her, and she thought John would just blindly accept that the other Galus made HIM the target. Seriously? "Here's the plan we came up with when you weren't around, John: We told all the Foa Foans to vote for YOU as a decoy, but really we want to get Natalie. Really. Just trust us. So if anything, Monica's plan to save Laura is actually a big reason Laura got voted out, whereas otherwise John may have remained loyal.

There was never any guarantee he was going to the final five with the rest of the Galu's, and I can almost guarantee that Laura would have had his ass voted out well before then. Also, what would have happened if he chose the purple rock? Then he wouldn't have even been in the game in the first place and he would have sacrificed himself for some tribe that didn't even clue him into the plan in the first place.

I doubt Russell will live up to his deal, and John's betrayal would have alienated him from the three remaining Galus. I think this will be John's demise... and way earlier than F5 (Final Six at most... if he's lucky) Even if he slithers himself to the Final Three, I don't he would have won the game: Traitors are never liked with the Jury, and he probably would lose to anyone (Except Shambo), including non-entities like Mick, Jaison or Brett. He completely threw away the chance of winning the game. I don't know if you would agree with me, but I'd never give up a Six out of Seven shot at the Final Five for a guarantee that I will lose the game. Never. Besides, I -as John- could still cut a deal the FFs left in the game and Dave to oust Laura or Monica... preferably at Final Seven... then you have a shot at the Final Four if all goes well, then Ditch Dave at F4 go into the Jury with 2 Foa Foas (presumably Shambo and Jaison) who should be beatable. And this he gave it up.

John would have gone home at F5. Last night, John gave up a guaranteed loss in order to stay alive and try to forge an alliance with Russell or someone else on Foa Foa.

If he had stupidly gone to the purple rock, there's a good probability he wouldn't have been there in the first place. At the end of the day, this is an individual game. You're not there to look out for whats best for your team or your alliance, you're alway in it to do what's best for YOU. John did what was best to further himself in the game at the moment.
