It's interesting that a lot of the posters here talking about cooling, reference data since 1998. What makes that year so important? Because there does seem to be a mild downward trend when using 1998 as a starting point, but that trend disappears (or becomes an upward trend) if you use 1997 or 1999 as the start date. Picking the hottest year on record as a starting point skews things, and makes it clear that people using this "data" are coming at the information with a preconceived agenda. There's a good article about this in the link below, but it's from the liberally biased MSM, so it doesn't really matter.
