In fairness, I never heard the "where's my sun?" comment because my brother was busy calling Shambo a whackjob and saying "someone as crazy
as her shouldn't have been let into the army" (his words not mine). From what I heard, Laura sounded like she actually meant well, and if someone
legit means well when trying to console someone, I, as a social service worker in training (lol), can't really get mad at them for how it may have come
out. I mean, Dave was trying to help her with the fire, got it going, and she chastised him and called him a total idiot. He then suggested that maybe she
should calm down and not freak out so much, and she talked about how he could kiss her ass. And on top of that, she keeps shutting down Monica when she tried
to keep Galu together with her. I mean really, Shambo's only decent shot at the Final 2/Final 3 MIGHT be to take Monica/John to the end with her, and I
highly doubt anything close to that would happen. I can understand getting mad for how it may have been portrayed to you, but I didn't see any "good
intentions" with anything Shambo did, so... Thanks for at least highlighting something I missed, Eliza.

EOrlins wrote:Because the recap's not edited? The "where's my sunshine?" comment could have easily been edited, and if not, it's not such a big deal. Laura did seem to genuinely try to reach out to Shambo. What I found disgusting in that scene was Shambo playing the victim once again in her confessional, and saying Laura "interrupted her private moment". |

Hi Eliza! Always been a big fan of yours.
I have to ask you your opinion on Brett's editing......(while we are talking edits) |

EOrlins wrote: would yo have acted any differently then Laura if you had been put in similar situation with Twila?. Also Laura correct line was "Where's our sun?" this could have been said early before Shambo started talking about her dead siblings with a person she hated or there was maybe a pause in discussion and Laura was trying to light up the mood or change the subject. Anyway we only get to hear Shambo confessional about what happened and not Laura.

I agree that the Where's my Sun? scene makes Laura look pretty heartless, but I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. I feel like if she had actually
said and done mean things to Shambo, we would have seen it in the earlier episodes, because then their rivalry would've made a lot more sense. Instead,
Laura was kind of invisible for the first few episodes, and out of nowhere the producers are telling us "Laura and Shambo don't like each other."
I'm inclined to believe Laura when she says that Shambo isolated herself from the tribe and was jealous of Laura's role as dominant female in the
tribe.

"Where's our sunshine" does seem pretty cold and callous. However, it wouldn't be the first instance of producer manipulation. If Laura was
that much of a bitch, I think that they would have shown Sham saying something in confessional. I could see it being edited out of order. I think Laura could
have done more in the situation, like gotten up, and after made up. But I watched the scene again and it looked like Laura at least tried, and said some very
nice things, even asked more questions like she was interested. "She's proud of you Sham. I can promise you that she's real proud of you."

He has alliances with EVERYONE (as per their exit interviews) and he just seems very well liked. I guess he's not causing drama so we're not shown enough of him, but I think he's adorable and playing a great, albeit hidden, game. |

In fairness to Laura, I think her "where's the sunshine" comment was said at a different time in the conversation. They didn't show Shambo
next to her when she said it, and before she said it, it was sunny, they cut to her saying that when it's cloudy, then they cut back to both of them with
it being sunny again. I think Laura's just a victim of editing.

Shambo doesn't complain that Laura is cold and unsypathetic - it's that she "invaded a private moment" and is fake. Which doesn't jive
with how the scene is actually edited. It's just weird - why is Sham pouring out her heart to her #1 long-standing enemy??

I've got to disagree Eliza. Looking at the scene, Laura surely meant well with the comments she meant. I saw the "where's our sun?" comment
as an icebreaker change the subject type comment and nothing more. If Laura was as self-obsessed and vain as the scene made her out to seem, then Laura would
have never said some of the things she said to Shambo about how her sister was proud of her or some of the questions she asked.
I find it ridiculous that Laura "invaded Shambo's privacy". Honestly, this scene and Shambo's overall edit of being a victim is what deserves an Eliza eyeroll. |

craig wrote: Because Shambo is an idiot. I am a big Laura fan but I do get why Eliza dislikes her. You see someone, another human being, crying over something very tragic in her life, get off your ass and stop tanning for 2 mins to give the girl a hug or at least sound like you are remotely interested. Laura barely made the effort and I get that she doesn't like Shambo but you shouldn't have sat there in the first place then. |

OrsNaz wrote: This I agree with Theres some things you cant edit. Mean comment or not, Laura was clearly just lying around when Shambo was pouring her heart out. She could have atleast acted intrested. I mean..dont get me wrong...Shambo seems crazy too. But.....the way I see it they both have issues lol.

I'm not a big Laura fan and understand EOrlins comment. Agree that editing can make things appear that weren't quite the way things actually were. But still don't know how the two of them ended up on the beach together in the first place. If Sham wanted privacy she should have politely told Laura thank you for joining me but I want to be alone right now. Blaming Laura for her inability to act for herself is ridiculous. If after 3 + weeks of someone pushing you away, including a loud verbal attack, how would YOU respond if suddenly you are thrust into a situation where you are supposed to provide them with support and empathy. Laura did not understand what exactly set off Shambo for their first fight and probably was treading pretty lightly to avoid setting her off again. I submit if it was Kelly or Monica you would have seen a much different Laura. As posted elsewhere in these threads it didn't matter what Laura said/did, Shambo was going to attack/criticize Laura. |

She already had her OTTNN5 expressions during that Ben post-boot interview, but is all "^_^ oblivious! ^_^" when players like Jaison whinewhinewhinewhinewhine about struggles and oppression, like he did just cuz John was, er, rough during the battle challenge. She doesn't like Laura because of her political affiliation. ~fin |
