The kid probably thought you were the hired maid/cook or something.

A marker, a cardboard sign and the words "Registered Sex Offender" would quickly remedy this problem

Call me silly, and I expect you will, but I wouldn't have allowed that. I don't know if I'm just too "old school" about such things, but
I always wanted to hear from the parent(s) DIRECTLY about sleep-overs, etc. I was the dad who drove over to meet the parent(s) and drop off stuff if sudden
sleep-over syndrome kicked in.

Now that my son is a teenager I really don't go up to the door and meet the parents. But I have met them before at school get togethers. My youngest though
- I meet the parents and call a couple of times to check on her. We used to have a girl who lived down the street come over all the time - saying she was
starving as soon as she stepped in the door. I fed her, but had to wonder if she ever ate at home.

if TC let me in her house and made me noodles with butter and cheese i'd be so happy about it cuz that's one of my fav things. i'd eat it all up,
yum, and load my plate in the dishwasher.

Did your parents abused you as a child?

Maybe there's a good reason that the parents of this kid have little to no concerns.
Maybe the kid is a homo and not worth worrying over. |

Next thing you'll know the kid will become a long term tenant, it's the way it happened to us. Have you discovered if the kid has a dad in his home?
It's amazing the way some kids are raised.

Sounds weird for 11, I wouldn't let my 11 y/o stay without talking to the parents, but I think I know some parents who would.
My 14 y/o is with a girl this weekend, they slept over Friday night and Saturday the mother took the 3 girls to PHL to see Boys Like Girls, then staying at a hotel and they are coming home today. When we dropped her off Friday the mom came out and met us, talked, and we gave her money for the ticket. It was the first time I met the mother. But I have known the girl since Sept. Cell phones are a great thing. |

Is it really weird to let your kid spend the night at someone's house without even speaking to the parents?I used to think it was unheard of, but apparently it's pretty common. STUPID but common. Especially if the kid's parents are druggies or the partying type. Keep an eye on this, though. You may accidentally end up 'adopting' this kid. Usually if the parents don't care who their kid is with, they don't care if he comes home at all. |

Once I hit middle school, my mom didn't really "meet" with parents of the kids that I went over to sleepovers with. And high school sleepovers
usually involved no parents being home and liquor and boys.
