Yes!!! The right chef finally won!!! Congratulations Chef Garces!!! Chef Mahta shouldn't have even been in the finale with all of his disasters making ice cream. |

Thank God......Garces won. All the ICs apparently thought that Jose was better but Jeffrey is such a schmuck....I really think he had a major hard on for
Mehta.......right Jeffrey you wouldn't pay for perfectly executed food but would for rare pork burgers.

::::::::crying:::::::: because my beloved Mehta lost.
Congrats to Garces, but dammit I think Mehta would be a better Iron Chef. |

<3<3<3 Michael Symon for standing up to Jeffrey and supporting Morimoto:
Morimoto: "[Mehta] tried a lot, but a lot of fail. People who can be the Iron Chef, have to do something successfully.... Then, if I still fail, possibility to be more creativity...." (I think Morimoto--for whom the show usually has an overdub--is saying that first a chef has to be technically competent, and only then can indulge his creativity, and if one fails at creativity, the judges can say "well, at least he got the technique right", which is I think what the other ICs were saying about Garces's food.) Jeffrey (in a snit, esp. given his Brooklyn Bridge remark): "Morimoto is a fabulous modern Japanese judge" (I have to think Jeffrey meant to say "chef" here), "but if he were cooking simple Japanese dishes perfectly, but it was all things you get in a Japanese household, I don't think he'd ever win Iron Chef. Morimoto wins because of his creativity." Symon: "But [Morimoto's] able to be creative, Jeffrey, because he's a master technician and a master of fundamentals." Alton Brown to Symon: "So without that base, true creativity is not possible?" Symon to Jeffrey: "If you're creative, and you fail, are you creative, or are you a failure?" Jeffrey: "You're exaggerating how challenged Mehta is." Symon: "He did some great dishes today. I'm just saying there's some basic technique stuff that he failed on, and that frightened me." Morimoto is without question the most accomplished IC. Though I appreciate Jeffrey's contributions as a judge (even including his curmudgeonliness), and have read and enjoyed his books, Jeffrey does not always deserve to be in the same room as Morimoto.

Yay. For once, a chef I liked from the beginning won. And I think he strategized well tonight: Good story, well-executed. He has shown great creativity in the
past, and wowed the judges (so Jeffrey's pointw as basically moot... he even said himself that Garces had done amazing stuff and creative successes
repeatedly). Mehta's LOOKED a lot better, tonight. I'll give him that. I wouldn't have even minded him winning; but I would not have been able to
watch many episodes with him because he just stresses and weirds me out sometimes. LOVED Symon tonight.
Congrats, Chef Garces! |

Did you get the feeling if the 3 Iron Chefs were not able to vote, the outcome would have been different? I mean Jeffrey was very much pro Mehta but I also
got the impression Anya was also leaning towards Mehta based on 'creativity.' Donatella seemed to be pro Mehta but listened to the opinions of the
Iron Chefs. On a personal note I would have preferred Garces food to Mehta's. Congrats Iron Chef Garces, I'll be rooting for you.

I actually got the feeling the women were leaning towards Garces, but were second-guessing it because of the lack of big risks. I also reckon that, whether or
not they are supposed to, they took previous competitions into consideration.

I kept thinking Donatella would vote the opposite of Jeffrey just to spite him! He's such a pompous jackass. There are ways to express your opinions
without being rude. And I was really glad they let the 3 IC's have a vote - they know what it takes to do the job - I can't wait to see Garces in his
first IC comp.

jasbel wrote: I know why Jeffrey is so pro Mehta. This whole time I was like, WTF...the dude didn't even fry anything so why is Jeffrey trying to lick his bone all the time. Then it hit me. Mehta is very global with his cuisine. Jeffrey fancies himself a globe trotter and food afficionado. |

It looks like Garces first battle is January 16th vs Rachel Yang.

Fuck Jeffery. He thought that the German plate by Garces was boring yet also said it was the most succulent piece of roasted pork he'd ever had!?
I'm glad the chef who actually made food that tasted good won. |

Again, I always half expect Jeffrey to unbutton his pants, let out a big belch or fart, and ask for another beer. Actually, when they have hooch he always DOES
ask for a refill, come to think of it.

I actually rewatched and felt sorry for the third, nearly invisible judge. She tries to be objective and helpful, while the other two bicker like siblings.

I was distracted by the shiny lips of the third judge.
To be honest no one spoke to me the way last season's winner did, altho I called Garces in my house. |

Jeffrey annoys the hell out of me. I love when the other judges put him in his place.
