You're mixing up different things. Russell was the first one who saw the picture in the photo gallery that said "Go to your board to see a clue." We saw that on the show. We also saw him pass the phone to Brett as that picture was displayed. Aside from that picture, there were two actual clues: 1) The text message that talked about rolling rocks and moss, and 2) The video that showed the mossy rock.

In the insider clip, Russell was probably talking about the others playing keep away with one of those two clues. I'm guessing he was talking about the video. For one, we heard Brett read the written clue aloud to everyone. Then later on, we heard Russell say, "I don't need to see it again" after he watched the video. That might have been his exasperated reaction after having had to wait to see the video.

Can someone tell my if I'm remembering right? Did the quote from the commercial with Russell sitting in the hammock saying "I don't even need it..." ever air on the show? I watched it live, then the DVR'd show and totally missed it. Or did I?

It was not part of the episode as aired. It didn't show up in the insider clips either.

Same with the snippet in the preview where he says something like "I'm 10 times smarter than Laura."
