Heh heh.. that's exactly the type of reaction he was hoping for. He wants to make you feel uncomfortable.
By the way, what do gay rights and fetish/sex slaves have to do with each other at all?? I remember when Madonna had the leather and the whips and the sex slaves and the multiple gender kissing galore, but obviously that must have been acceptable because she wasn't gay. And of course she wasn't full of herself at all. Yeah, on further watching you can tell he trips over that step up - what an awesome comeback though! It reminds me of world class figure skaters who land on their asses and then have to get up and pretend nothing happened to finish out their show. Not excusing the error at all, we're all only human and make them, but great that you can be able to bounce back from a major error with that kind of aplomb - that's what had people confused if it was an error in the first place.

I didn't even realize that was a trip until I rewatched the video....I thought he covered for it pretty well...I did wonder why he was rolling around in a

Like I say, I would never have the balls and the self confidence to just get up and continue like nothing happened after something like that. That's why
I'm not in show biz...okay that and my total lack of talent that is :)

I've been reading some of the early reviews and have seen journalists praise or scorn him (usually the latter) for being too over the top, and offering
their sage advice on where he went over the line or what he should have done or whatever. What these guys don't understand, and even though they might mean
entirely well, is that Adam just plain doesn't care what the public, or even his fans, think. He's going to do it his way or no way, even if it ends up
losing him fans, cause he knows the ones he has are completely with him on this concept and will always be loyal.
(okay I sound like a fanatic stalker here.. but what I really am is a born rebel just like Adam is)

perfidiousamber wrote:Well, making people uncomfortable doesn't always equal sales, so he might wish he could have that performance back again one of these days. And, early Madonna certainly didn't have the leather and whips and sex slaves... that came after she'd already established herself and had already gone through a couple of "transformations" in her career (and doesn't Madonna consider herself bisexual?). Starting out like that will put yourself into becoming a niche artist, which is fine - but Adam already was that, so.... Maybe he doesn't want to be a supah-star after all. Just a niche artist. And of course Madonna was full of herself - she is freaking Madonna (no, I'm not a fan, but really....). She didn't start out with that ego (or, at least, letting the general public know about it & flipping everyone off at her first awards show performance...). As far as gay rights and fetish/sex slaves having to do together? Well, I imagine many gay people/activists would like to have someone of Adam's current "caliber" representing a cause that is pretty damn important to them, no? So, this is disappointing. Because many people who might be on-the-fence about gay rights/etc - this performance certainly could have turned the switch for many of those people - turned that switch to "off." And that sucks - for a lot of people - and not in the way Adam was simulating on TV tonight. lol A lot of people are supportive of gay rights, but don't necessarily want to see sex slaves and leather whips on a public TV awards show. Those people who think of it all lumped in together (ie. all gay people are sexual deviants) - well, this certainly doesn't help them to separate the two things, does it - and therefore doesn't do a darn thing to help with progressive thinking of the general American populace. Just a very weird choice overall, imesho. During AI, he "played the game" very well. He was polite, respectful, and talented as could be. Even when the judges said something negative, he would smile and stand by what he'd done. Okay. Fine. Tonight, was just a big WTF moment, really. For those fans who liked the bad boy who could sweet-talk Grandma - he just threw that persona right out the window.

Everyone who knows me knows what a huge fan I am of Adam Lambert because I think he's one of the most talented and exciting entertainers to come down the
pike in a while BUT my problem with the performance was the vocals. A group of us had made a party of it and waited in great anticipation to see our
favorite singer again. To be honest, a few seconds into the song we were stunned into silence - and not in a good way. Where was the confident performer from
the Zodiac shows on YouTube with the amazing vocals? What we heard was thin, kind of pitchy, and the looks he gave were scary - not sexy. Especially the
wierd cross-eyed look at the end. Not really attractive.
Of course, I'm still downloading the CD but this was disappointing. |

I just rewatched it with my 13 yr old daughter, and we were undecided if it was an error or not - could be either cause this is live, after all. But it didn't change the fact that it was an amazing performance - my 13 year old actually said so.Please. My 12-year old took one look at the performance and told me, "Damn, that's one ugly motherfucking cunting desperate whore trying to be edgy but failing mercurially! What a motherfucking twat loser!" I laughed and gave him $50 to buy himself some hooker for his brilliance. |

And I don't see why people who are so undecided that they are on the fence about such a basic issue would be tempted to hop off on the basis of one performance. And for God's sake, why are you still implying that whips and slaves and whatever are unmistakably the parlance of gays, whom it is unmistakable that you have a bias against. All I can say is thank the gods above that I'm not one of the "progressive thinking general American populace." (don't worry I love you Yanks as a general rule:) |

What a winner you are even thinking crap like that. The fall down is funny as hell. Nice recovery though! The man has balls, you have to give him that. It seems the media liked it too, Rolling Stone among others. And he looked really hot, great outfit. Where is all this fat I hear about anyway? |

Or so help me god, I will reach through this computer and strangle you lol ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Look, I know you are a hater, and I am not in the hate thread. I was comparing Mariah's first time on a live award show. I saw it, I was in the music industry at the time, so I was looking forward to it. She was not so great. She was nervous and couldn't hit the notes. I was a huge fan at the time and the album was just breaking, I mean, people didn't even know who she was. It was huge opportunity and she tanked. As a fan that was my reaction. It has nothing to do with comapring her with Adam and whether they are god.desses. Whether Mariah did a s&m type show. Just the impact of extreme nerves and first time on an award show. The point is, she recovered and has had a great career. I think Adam can do likewise. |
