I have a question for you Buffy fans.
So I'm not a HUGE Joss Whedon fan. I don't care for Dollhouse, although I did really enjoy Firefly. My friend and I recently checked out the first season of Buffy. While I thought it was entertaining, I was a little let down. I just found it to be underwhelming. Does the series change at all from the first season, or is it basically the same kind of stuff throughout. I'm just wondering if I should devote my time to finishing the series. I do like campy stuff. I prefered the weekly monsters like the praying mantis teacher and the invisible girl who ended up in that like FBI agency. I really liked the witch episode too, where the mom switched places with her daughter and then ended up in the statue. Ha. I didn't care for the Anointed One crap, though. I got bored with it. |

I'd stick with it...the first season is kind of in a vacuum as they filmed it not knowing what the future of the series would be. It picks up considerably
next season, and has more of an arc that ties it together only to continue barrelling on into awesome for the rest of the series (only to come to a
considerable slowdown near midS7). But it's worth it!

Season 1 is pretty poor IMO, the series quality takes a big step up from season 2 and onward.

Imo, you have not even met the best characters yet (Oz, Spike, Faith, Anya) so I say keep watching.

I should mention that I have this shirt. I enjoy watching the mixture of emotions of tween and teen girls' faces veer from confusion (who the hell is
buffy?) to near tears as they realise I'm condoning the instant death of Edward.
While that youtube vid was pretty well done, Edward needed to die much quicker... |

The argument could be made that Buffy has an Edward in the form of Spike...and she never staked him

FarnsworthFan wrote:Definitely keep watching, season 1 isn't nearly as strong as some of the other seasons. There are a few downsides (Riley, Dawn, Kennedy) but for the most part is is amazing! As for amazing characters, how can you forget Drusilla?! |

fireballinsky wrote: Season 1 is solid. It has good writing, good acting(especially for a TV show), and is very fun to watch. It feels like it was meandering though. There are a number of stand alone episodes that are totally unrelated to the main plotline, and they feel inconsequential(Though I like them). Season 2 is when the show becomes more epic, and contains the more meaty elements. |
