So I just got my wisdom teeth out... |
Lead | |
|
And it isn't too bad. The bloody saliva is kinda annoying, but no pain yet. O hear Day Two is worse. Is it true? Or is the wisdom teeth pain thing totally
overhyped?

Yes Day 2 is worse. The bleeding just won't stop. And the painkillers wear out and it starts hurting.
And there's blood. On your pillow, whenever you lie down...everything you eat tastes bloody... |

Just keep pumping the pain pills. You'll be fine.

If you can, have a smoke. It will help to numb the sockets.

I didn't have any pain. Although I did wake up half way through and try to stop them but they just held my arms down and upped my dosage. Good times.
The worst part was my face swelling up. |

Drink pickle juice! Delicious AND cauterizing.

And share your pain pills. : ) |

Also dont believe them when they say you cant drink. I drank like a fish whilst popping my anti biotics and spitting out stitches and I still recall that I
hooked up that night.

it was one of the worst experiences of my life. my head swelled up like i had been in a head on collision, the pain pills made me vomit and i was in the ER at
2 a.m. getting restitched.

No, do NOT smoke! Nothing through a straw, either. Especially if you had bottom ones pulled. The suction can dislodge the blood clots and then you'd
have dry socket, which hurts far worse than any pain you might have from just the tooth pulling. If only top ones were pulled, gravity might pull down some
blood so you might avoid dry socket. But don't take a chance.
Stick to the pain pills. The pain shouldn't be too bad if you do. And try to keep your head elevated when you lie down.

Why did I look at this thread when I haven't had my wisdom teeth out yet?
ETA: Why haven't scientists found a less-traumatizing way of doing this procedure yet? |

You never know... I have had some students who are back in school the next day and say they feel fine. Others are out for days and describe horrendous pain.
Trust your instincts. |

Umm it was completely overrated.
I bled moderately for like an hour; felt very little pain (I didn't even take pain killers); and ended up regretting having them sedate me. Seriously, the worst part was the sleeping for three days straight. I felt like I was going crazy because of it. |

Well, I wont be smoking or drinking, since Im a minor and if I did that anywhere near my parents I wouldnt live to see another day. Like the sockets hurt a
little, but not bad. I feel like such a wimp, I cant even swallow the pain pills, I have to have it mixed in with pudding. I fail at taking pills by mouth.

I was fine when I first had mine out. Didn't hurt at all. The second day sucked though. My mouth constantly ached.
Watch how you sleep. I was told not to lay down for long periods of time after I had mine out. Something about keeping the blood from draining to your stomach. I slept propped up on a bunch of pillows and was fine. My sister didn't and got really sick. |

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Im a stomach sleeper, so that may be a challenge though....

Man, having my wisdom teeth taken out was the best weeklong vacation from reality ever. I wish they grew back so I could have them taken out again.

I wrapped ice packs in hand towels and kept them on the sides of my mouth. I did not swell or bruise at all. I also slept the whole day too. The hardest part was eating. It was a painful bitch. |

I threw up 16 times the day after I had mine out. Full healing took about a week. Have fun!

The procedure itself isn't bad, just the recovery time. |
