My gut actually agrees with Liz and the take on a terrorist not getting a trial. Why should they, they are truly scum, and don't give them any chance for a platform.
BUT my head tells me that you have to show fairness to ALL, no matter what, you have to stand by the principles that you are claiming to hold most dear.
You have to ask who judged them as guilty? How do you know they were not just scapegoats in an elaborate scheme to make the last administration appear that they were heroes and captured the bad guys?
Liz doesn't care about the truth, she is more interested in seeing retribution against someone for the crime (as are most)


I think Obama wants to show that the US is upholding the values it lost over the past 8 years. The IRAQ war (fought for oil $$) the crashing economic system (brought about in large part from the greedy unchecked capitalism in the US).
This trial that is guaranteed to all accused, will show the rest of the world that the US does the right thing, not the EASY thing to do.

As someone looking in on the US, Obama has needed to do some major marketing on your behalf or you would have been even further in the toilet. This trial is about marketing the US as a fair and just and honest society. Not one as was ruled by that cowboy the past 8 years.

I also think that the media will be well controlled and not let these terrorist twats have any chance for a platform for their propaganda. And I think that is a very reasonable thing for the US govt to be able to do to provide a fair trial to them.
