Do you ever wonder "why me" whether it be good or bad, but "why me"? Not in a victim sense but in a sense of wonder, anticipation, confusion. For those of you that know me well, you know I have a book full of this "why me" question. Again, I have never felt like a victim, I feel more like a child before Christmas waiting to open her present.

When I was 19 I was diagnosed with Myastinia Gravis, it is a form of Muscular Dystrophy, and I was told I would be in wheel chair at the age of 21-22, I should not have anymore children and I needed to prepare my life for a lifestyle of disability. This was the first real "why me" honestly that really didn't seem much like a present. After battling with hundreds of prescription dr ugs that seems to do nothing, I opted for a radical surgery, a Thymectomy. A 9-10 hr procedure where they sawed open my breast bone and removed my Thymus, (kind of like an open heart surgery) with the hope of going into some type of remission, most patients experience a drop in their medication needed to control this disease, me on the other hand got a much better gift..... walking myself. Not only walking, running, skipping, jumping, I have been a fitness instructor for 20 years. Never again taking another pill. That was a great gift!!! Everyday, EVERYDAY I am thankful for this gift, and I am painfully reminded whenever I see someone in a wheelchair. Thank you my Father for my gift.

With Thanksgiving here I am again reminded of ALL the blessings I have, all the past "why me's" and all the victories He has walked me through. Yes, walked, He has given me that gift again today, I will not overlook the blessings I have."

Today, I pray the same for you, I pray that your "why me" will not be a pity cry, but a cry of praise for the things He will and has done.
